Just heard on Geo News that arrested Pakistani students who have been proven innocent, had been freed. The remaining two are to be freed, and will NOT be deported. Students will be allowed to continue their studies.
In conjuction, Pakistan had previously summoned British Deputy High Commissioner and asked for an explanation for the reasons of deportation. So that pressure along with the pressure from public may have played a role in this decision.
Here is the story where Pakistan pressed Britain not to deport students, and allow them to study.
Just goes to show the power of lobbying for interests. The more Pakistanis get involved in their resident lands, they more recognition they will get and will therefore be able to get their respective Govts to take ideal decisions.
Overall, good news for students. Although the damage’s already done. Pakistan’s name has once again been stained unnecessarily, and we can hope that Britain would apologize. Don’t expect much from the media though…they were just practicing “freedom of selective speech”.
