I agree, but stats are not showing the 'fitness' which is being claimed to be low for Shoaib, I didn't see those games so I can't comment about that.

those stats are crap.bowlers like shoaib are concerned about picking up injuries in tounrnaments like these thats why they dont bow at their best.am sure shoaib did'nt bowl at his best there for that reason.Pcb just wants to punish him for his attitude which is ridiclous.

I don't think that is correct, they are required to bowl only 4 overs, usually 3 consecutive overs at most, the only beef with Shoaib seems to be the sponsors thingie, not so sure about actual fitness.

^well u need sami as a cover for other fast bowlers in the team if nothing else cause fast bowlers get injured a lot.and samis' peformances in the domestic season have been quite good recently.so its not a bad to have him in the side especially with shoaib not there.

Shoaib was was definitely looking not 100% fit during the 20/20 games. He looked overweight, but than again he still is better than Sami.

yes but still they would not play like they are playing a test match.thats why shoaib went for so many runs there not because he was unfit.

PCB selectors do not select the fastest bowler in the world! The first test match is almost a month away. Couldn't they have given Shoaib a chance of getting fully fit within a month? At least should have picked him in the first squad.

Sami bashing continues most unabashedly, typical gushup follow the herd mentality. There are two reasons why Sami is playing (1) Wada may reimpose Asif & Shoaib ban in January which wud leave our pace attack depleted and (2) Sami is the only other genuine pace bowler Pakistan has irrespective of his recent test match performance or lack of it. Anwer Ali, Jamshaid and many other promising bowlers deserve their chance, then again its not easy when u have front line bowlers like Umer Gul, Asif and Rana with Shoaib Akhter always making a grand entry/exit.
Players like Fawad Alam sud be automatic selection, then again they come from Karachi and do not share the same generosity accorded to their colleagues from Sialkot or Lahore. Asim Kamals selection is again another mistake, he is totally out of form and doesnt have the temperament for international cricket. Good news about this selection is inclusion of Zulqernain as the backup wicketkeeper and exclusion of the internationally aclaimed jhatka, Shabbira.
Iam also not so sure about the inclusion of Yasir Hameed, he has some fundamental problem with the ball outside the off-stump. Instead of him they sud have tried some other player, someone like Fawad Alam, Shadab Kabir, Hasan Reza, these three players have potential and track record but not given the same generous treatment that was Yasir Hameed's good fortune.
In the end, this is Pakistan side, wish them all the best.

I don't think WADA issue is the reason of taking Sami on the tour. Even Rana was better than him for Test matches
Being a genuine pace bowler doesn't mean that anyone should be an automatic selection. Just look at his record and explain if he even deserve to be part of Pakistan A Team

Last time sami bowled like a decent fast bowler was in bangalore test against India and before that??? umm New test against newzealand where he took a five-for as mentioned in above post.
There is something seriuosly wrong with selectors mentality. Although I give them credit for forming a nucleus of sorts main players but how the hell Sami is part of that nucleaus is beyound me. Hate to see Shoaib out though. He could have been picked and sami could have been marked as reserve in case shoaib doesnt get match fit. Baffling!!
Other than that squad looks good and challenging. Specially bowling line up of Asif, Gul and Nazir sounds really good. I will be anxiuosly waiting for in form Gul and Asif bowling in tandem. :-)

^ Did you see him bowl in twenty twenty? No speed, no control no nothing. Its better that he gets in groove first playing domestic then think about a recall. We are well equipped in fast bowling dept with Asif, Gul, Rana and Nazir.
