Pakistani singer in Eurovision

Pakistani superstar Najam Sheraz and Erilien will be competing at the 2009 Bulgarian semifinal with a song in Punjabi and English, Don’t Break My Heart. If the song gets to represent Bulgaria in Moscow at the Eurovision Song Contest it will be first time ever a Punjabi song is performed on the Eurovision stage. Sheraz is one of Pakistan’s most recognized and acclaimed singers enjoying massive success in the Middle East, India, UK, USA and in the Indian subcontinent. He enjoys name, fame and success among the Asian communities worldwide.

The multi talented Pakistani artist was born in Multan, Pakistan and is an excelling singer and composer who has travelled around the globe. His powerful compositions depict a fusion of various genres: from Eastern to Folk, from Blues to Jazz, and from Classical to Rock or Spiritual. He will compete in the Bulgarian semi final together with popular Bulgarian singer Erilien.

The duo will replace Vessela Boneva, also known as Vessy, in the semi final of Blgarska Pesen Na Evrovizija (Bulgarian Song in Eurovision). Vessy was disqualified earlier this month.

Re: Pakistani singer in Eurovision

can you imagine sending a pakistani to Moscow to sing to a live television audience of 100 million worldwide!

problem is first he has to win the bulgarian national qualifiers to represent bulgaria
if he does he could potentially draw on the large indian/pak diaspora in western europe for televotes (uk, ire, germ, aus, neth, belg, aus, norway, den, spain) and crossover votes from arab and turkish communities in europe

problem is most desis do not watch eurovision
and they wont pay for the phone call !

Re: Pakistani singer in Eurovision

Since when do non European countries participate in the Eurovision song contest?

Re: Pakistani singer in Eurovision

he is singing in the Bulgarian National Finals and will represent BULGARIA if selected

Hey this is so cool. To participate in such a major competetion is a huge deal. But then, Najam Sheraz has already proven himself on so many levels that this aint surprising....the song is groovy i just checked it out

Re: Pakistani singer in Eurovision

IF they'll get selected.. then Najam wont need the western europe votes since eastern europe countries only vote for eastern europe countries..

Re: Pakistani singer in Eurovision

he better win .. something

i think he ll do great .. cos the guy .. hes justa great guy .. i ve met him .. and lived with him for two weeks ... traveled wiith him too and the guy is just fantastic .. he sure got the ....... what it takes .

First he needs to win the Bulgarian National Finals to get to represent Bulgaria at Eurovision then he goes to the Eurovision Semi Final in Moscow

Bulgaria has only qualified once from the semi finals so he will have to draw on the western european votes. Bulgaria is not part of any voting bloc like ex-soviet or former yugoslavia so maybe only Turkey, Macedonia, Greece will vote for them which is not enough to go thru to the finals. You need at least 10+ countries

Re: Pakistani singer in Eurovision

well unfortunately he was eliminated in the bulgarian semi finals but you can watch his performance on youtube here

give the man credit for trying!
