In May, I will be visiting these two cities with my wife. Therefore I’d like to know about good restaurants and shopping places for pakistanis in these two places. I’ve never been to the uk before, so I would need spesific details.
Re: Pakistani restaurants and shopping places in London/Manchester
I suppose you're looking for halal? If you're going for Pakistani food, I suppose Tayyabs in Brick Lane (London) is quite good. There are many restaurants to choose from in Southall...Mirch Masala, Giftos etc. On Edgware Road you will find a wide variety of Arabic food. There are also many halal Nandos, South Harrow and Hounslow to name a few.
For shopping there's no better place than Oxford Circus. There is also this really good halal Chinese takeaway on Oxford Street. Westfield in White City is a good place to shop too. For desi/pakistani shopping, you can go to either Southall or Green Street.
I don't know Manchester very well but they have this 'curry mile' on wilmslow road which basically has all the good desi food and for shopping there is The Trafford Centre. Don't know much else, I've only been there once.
Re: Pakistani restaurants and shopping places in London/Manchester
Manchester-go to wilmslow road (that road is full of desi restaurants), nawaab restaurant, trafford center (not desi but u can watch film plus its a ronaqi place so u will enjoy.
Re: Pakistani restaurants and shopping places in London/Manchester
You want to come all the way to the UK to go to Pakistani shops and restraunts? Seems a bit silly, anyhoo
Manchester has a variety of halal restraunts, including mediterranean/arabic ones, try Jaffa or falafel on wilmslow road, best shawrma ever. There's also a few Malaysian and halal chinese places too including an obligatory halal nandos and subway, there's also a cake shop near town called wong wong bakery that's sell the most amazing mango cake!
If you go to the city centre they have the massive arndale centre which has the big brand shops, if you go further down from there they have loads of the expensive boutiques and stuff and there's also Affleck's Palace which sells loads of weird kooky stuff fairly cheap.
Manchester's not good for Pakistani clothes shopping really, but then again it is the same stuff as in Pakistan but about £20 more expensive. There's longsight market which has a lot of asian clothes and food stalls, but really for clothes you're better off going to Bradford or Birmingham!
Re: Pakistani restaurants and shopping places in London/Manchester
Sehrah, London is only a couple of hours flight away from I where I live, so its not that far away. And obviously we will not be travelling to the UK just to visit Pakistani restaurants and shops, but it will be among the things we will do. Thanks for the suggestions.
arafat, thanks for the suggestion. Btw, have you ever eaten at Bundu Khan, would you recommend it?
Re: Pakistani restaurants and shopping places in London/Manchester
**Balthier… as many have said - the Curry mile in Manchesters Wilmslow Road is just an array of really lovely restaurants- our fav used to be Sanams but its seemed to have lost its charm…Red Qila is fine and also Saajans … theres Peri Peri Grill in Oldham and Bukharas in Preston if ur out and about up in the North West .. if ur in Bradford - u just got to go to Mumtaz’s and only eat their Masala vaali machli:yummy:… London has a huge choice- Khans in Bayswater is nice but way too commercial and studenty… Im sure you’ll enjoy ur gastronomic adventure!!!
** Sum links for u to get ur teeth into:hehe:.. Rusholme Restaurants - the Curry Mile Manchester

Manchester got asian clothing shops but wht u mostly get there are clothes that are all indian inspired....not only in Manchester but elsewhere like Birmingham and Bradford too....clothing style and fashion is quite under indian influence since india got a good hold of their fashion and material in the UK...for some proper pakistani fashion u can visit IMANI...
