**Imtiaz Ali Khan, a Pakistani engineer and researcher, has created a “unique mixture of insulators” that can conduct electricity. Moreover using this mixture would save up to 30% of electricity, said Khan. He demonstrated his experiment to The Express Tribune here recently.

According to Khan, the mixture of insulators conducts 14% less current, effectively helping save electricity. He has named his discovery “AIK Technology”.
**Khan told The Express Tribune that under Ohm’s law, electricity can only pass through electrical conductors, for example a copper wire. However, he said, the mixture created by him can not only conduct electricity, but also save up to 30% on electricity bills.

According to Khan, he used to conduct the experiments in his private laboratory and it took him nearly eight years to reach his results.
**“This is the first time in history that anyone has found a method to conduct electricity from non-conducting materials,” **said Khan.
“I have decided to dedicate my discovery to my nation of 180 million people, who are suffering from extreme form of loadshedding in these modern times,” he added.
He said he can provide a device that **reduces electricity comsumption for Rs3,000 to people consuming less than 300 units of electricity, while households consuming over 300 units can avail the device for Rs4,000.

He appealed to the government to support him in his endeavours to bring an end to loadshedding.
By recognising his efforts at the national and international level, Pakistan can not only end power outages, but it can also export this technology to other countries, Khan said.
