Yeah so one of my Pakistani friends said there’s going to be a potluck at her place and that it won’t be formal. But then again when these gals got together before the party they were talking about what to wear and what to bring. One min they say it’s an informal gathering and then again they talk about gourmet food and dresses. I don’t get it. Either make it clear that it’s going to be a formal party so that I can make something special and wear something formal or just let it be an informal gathering where I can take some snacks and NOT dress up.
Why are they always so vague about these things? One of my Egyptian and Irani friends are really confused and keep on calling me on what to wear and what to take there. Sheeeeeeeeeesh!

Its allways like this, the main reason of pakistani parties are to show off your new dress, your new jhoota, your new jewerly, your new colour of nailpolish and matching lipstick, your new perfume, ahhhhhhh i am invited to one right now, damn what should I wear! :(

it is so true, because sometimes I see myself being also so shallow. when I am at normal gatherings I go wearning anything at all .. trousers and just any shirt but when I am invited to a pakistani gathering, its such a headache to make all your things matching or looking proper, sometimes I need a weeks mental preparation... why ?? maybe this is our mentality but we are brought up this way and its normal for us to be like this.
