After so much criticizing on Taufeeq Umar I was just checking the highest score and balls faced by Pakistani Test Openers and wondered that only 6 Openers have scored double centuries :bummer:

My personal sympathies are with Taslim Arif who were not given chance to play more cricket :frowning:

Here is the record of Pakistani openers who have faced more then 300 balls :cobra: I hope Toufeeq ll break Mudassar nazar record :biggthumb: **(he has break the record of Mudassar :clap:) **There are only 4 Openers from Pakistani team who have faced more then 400 balls in single inning.

You are comparing today's opener with openers of 70s, 80s.

Game has changed a lot since then.

We need same style of openers for our current test team. After saeed & Aamir we are struggling for some good test openers and if some one trying to stay on wicket then why criticism ?

A strike rate of 47 is not bad for a test opener.

You also have to see when did he achieve this 47. It was not this high all of his inning. I bet you give 30 more overs to Shafiq and he will up the rate to 50+ but Pakistan will lose half more day.

Amir Sohail and Anwar were aggressive openers. I am not asking for boundaries left, right and center but what I am saying that if your strike rate during most part of your inning is b/w 30 and 33 (as was Taufeeq's) or if you have scored 15 runs on 70 balls (as Asad did) and that all when your team is in strong position and need some quick runs, there certainly is a problem.

Strike rate of 3.25-3.5 is very common in Test cricket now ....

But I'll still support him because we need some reliable opener on any cost. Let him get some confidence and after that he can accelerate the run rate too.

Taufeeq is making a come back so give him a break, let the guy gain some confidence, hopefully he will prove better than damad and help us keep him out.
