Re: Pakistani online 'boutiques' and copying designs, case studies.

Most of the online Pakistani boutiques do sell inspried clothes or replicas. However there are many brands who do the same everywhere. Clothing styles cannot be copyrighted so its legal to do so. The bigger issue it seems from all the posts is that none of the pakistani online boutiques seem to be deliverling a reasonable product, in reasonable time. I have not seen one site that has not be panned by someone. The only options is to go the actual designer's websites and order directly from them.

to add in your case study, yes most of stores sell replicas but many of them do deliver more than reasonable product and most of time in timely manner.
if that had not been the case then we would have closed down long ago as outfits arent meant for everyday use.
in our case i can confidently say if someone has the opportunity to compare our pieces and original designer pieces they would surely find ours much better and believe me its not a joke.

and why is that?

because when you buy from us or similar company first you know its replica, secondly you arent sure whether it would look similar or not therefore many compare them to the minute details and above all images you see on our sites are taken in special environment which magnify the product too much than in real, so while making the outfit specially we had to take care of outfits feel in image and had to add too much extra work and details.
almost all of the designers concentrate on other elements of the outfits like pipins, color combination etc and lesser on embroidery and to us all that and embroidery big way.

that was the specific reason why we had decided to gradually switch to our own collection as it has not been a viable option even at price we charge to offer replicas.

furthermore there shall always be dissatisfied customers of every business and it is normal i guess which business in the world dont have dissatisfied customers and this doesnt mean all of them are like that.

price: this is everywhere i mean if we buy a pepsi we also pay for the marketing costs that they have incurred of which almost 50% went to waste based on their estimates and end up paying 500-600 times more for a product.
next time you buy a teashirt from a store remember its actual cost is not more than 2-5$ and made in poorest places like pakistan, bangladesh, srilanka or south america surely it doesnt make them of poor quality due to that.

if you are charging 200-300 % more then its lot easier for you to add few more people to the staff for customer service, accept free returns/exchanges and even if that happens they still made the good profit.

how would it be if we charge just 100-200$ more very few would buy from us.

our products can not be compared with what you buy from there on average just fabric cost goes to 50$ if its banarsi, let alone embroidery, tailoring , and other staff pays etc.

What company do you represent Junaid? I have never actually gone with one of the pakistani websites, and I don't know how well the bussinesses run, since web hosting is not that expensive its impossible to tell if there is an actual bussiness behind the site.

That being said, I personally dont' have a problem with replicas, A.B.S. an american company has made in china knock offs of Oscar dresses, practically a day after the show, and the dresses are sold in every store. Ofcourse the pictures that are on the websites are photoshoots with models wearing probably a sample piece, before it was mass produced, so differences are expected. If the site is reliable then it would be fine.

i am associated with IndusMart.com .
well there are many sites which are run the way you think, but there are some which has the team behind and sites would tell itself.
although as you pointed out webhosting is not cheap but it would again depend upon the business and its focus on quality, as far as we are concerned we run on our own servers in US and have proper network person looking after the system there and its not cheap.

in most cases there are businesses behind the sites but what matters is what they do and how they do it.
