If some one is to ask you to prepare a list of songs by Pakistani artists, which can be played as a background to a sit-down semi-formal dinner party, what will you select?
I guess we can include some offerings from Jawwad, Vital Signs, Strings, Hadiqa, Abrar etc? Not sure what songs. If you have any ideas, please share. Thanks.
I dont know if i should include him as pakistani or not, Adnan Sami has sung some good tunes that can be played at a dinner party, such as kabhi tho nazar milao...i think that is a perfect one.
I remember going to a restaurnt where they were playing shazia manzorrs songs such as batiaan bujai rakhdi, and ghar aja soniya, lightly in the back ground.
reason i posted these is that these songs are known by all so every one will like and enjoy them..
I have been a Dj at many parties so i know...
new songs from not well known bands dont exite ppl that much... a few ppl might enjoy but not all..
^ Munda bhai - Sorry, I was just kidding. I do respect your choice and would like to try listening these songs. I have not really heard much of these people so cant comment . I mainly listen to Singers like Nayyara Noor, Farida Khanum, NFAK, Mehndi Hasan etc..
Are you guys sure, this kinda stuff is good for background music in a dinner party? I mean, we are not having any dancing or bhangra or anything like that. Its just to create a soothing and nice ambience and to share some familiar tunes in the background. When I think about it, wouldn't it be better to have some nice instumentals of Pakistani music, rather than full fledge songs, which everyone will be trying to ignore amongst their conversations?

I was about to say that. :)
I would suggest songs by VS or JJ. Most of the songs aren't upbeat. I've found they create a nice undertone to conversation.
Faisal bhai, we play these type of songs in our pakistani society events, like during dinner time etc and its fine...You can play them in the backgorund and in about five minutes or so people will get used to them. Instrumentals might be better though but if you don't find enough then in se bhee kaam chal...balkay dorr...jayay ga :D
