The case against a Pakistani Christian girl potentially facing a death sentence for allegedly burning sacred Islamic texts has been thrown into doubt after her local mullah was arrested on accusations of tampering with evidence in order to frame her.

Hafiz Mohammed Khalid Chishti appeared in court on Sunday after witnesses claimed to have seen him adding pages of the Qur’an to a bag of ashes Rimsha Masih had been carrying away for disposal last month in order to strengthen the case against her.

I have no words for this low life. I hope he gets whats he deserves.

Re: Pakistani mullah accused of trying to frame girl in blasphemy case

good. Hopefully this will send a message to others like him that wanna use islam or the blasphemy law as a shield to bring harm to others

Re: Pakistani mullah accused of trying to frame girl in blasphemy case

IF its proved that he framed the girl and added Quran pages into evidence, he should be charged of Blasphemy in addition to tempering the evidence as he tore the pages from Quran willfully. Should go to jail for long time....

Re: Pakistani mullah accused of trying to frame girl in blasphemy case

Maybe even killed by the mob, eh? :dannyboy: Just like the countless people before him that met the same fate.

Re: Pakistani mullah accused of trying to frame girl in blasphemy case

How can someone do such a thing, and just to promote hatred.

Re: Pakistani mullah accused of trying to frame girl in blasphemy case

Serves the IDIOT right, the case is is PATHETIC even if she had committed this crime given the fact that she isn't even normal and is so young.

It also highlights the fact that this law can be easily abused if some people decide to get someone arrested/killed due to enmity.
You could disagree with Salman Taseer on his political views but he was killed for WRONG reason. There has been dozens of cases filed that made absolutely no sense so i don't know if this law needs to be abolished but huge amendments are required.

THIS!

Pakistani mullah accused of trying to frame girl in blasphemy case

Not only did he try to frame her, but he would speak against her every evening in the mosque and eventually led a group of ' believers' to her house...

Btw It was another mullah who actually exposed him. Hence no point in raving against all of them.

Re: Pakistani mullah accused of trying to frame girl in blasphemy case

I dont know the fact, one thing I noted, you want to look at the issue with the eyes of those peoples who are already biased.
you should have shared some national newspaper article, though they are also counterparts of biased international media.

Re: Pakistani mullah accused of trying to frame girl in blasphemy case

Some more interesting details reported by the Guardian.

  1. Hafiz Tahir Ashrafi of the All Pakistan Ulema council was motivated to interfere in this case when he read that the girl had Down’s Syndrome, because his own son has Down’s Syndrome.

  2. The All Pakistan Ulema Council is now declaring Rimsha Masih to be a “Daughter of the Nation” and is promising to take on the responsibility for ensuring her safety when released.

  3. He says that the was a broader local conspiracy in place for 3 months to evict Christians from the area that Rimsha lived in, and that the accused imam was just the front man for the conspiracy.

Re: Pakistani mullah accused of trying to frame girl in blasphemy case

Glad to see there is finally some public tolerance being shown to minorities in Pakistan.

The silent majority are finally speaking up.

apnay hi jaal may sayyad aa gaya.....

Re: Pakistani mullah accused of trying to frame girl in blasphemy case

I am actually encouraged by the reaction from some well known Islamic scholars and mullahs who are showing full support to the girl.
At least there is some hope, usually people don't support the victims in these sort of cases because of fear of being convicted themselves but more and more people are speaking out in girl's support.

Even before the conspiracy was exposed, people should have shown more patience as an 11 year old girl with down syndrome can hardly think about intentionally committing blasphemy.

Re: Pakistani mullah accused of trying to frame girl in blasphemy case

Wasn't this girl facing the death penalty? So, I dnt see why this mullah should only land in jail? He should get the same punishment that he was trying to get for this girl...HE is the one who tore the pages of the Quran, and he is not mentally challenged... (oh wait..I take that back...he is mentally challenged..such a psycho!)
