Pakistani Movies are Stupid

Hey Guyz,

Some might’ve depicted the maturity level of this post for jumping me later. But hey, using a sarcastic tone definately gets people’s attention and pronto. Be it the nay-sayers or the ones who’d jump in to follow up.

In the little time I have spent on GupShup so far, I’ve come to realize almost a divide between who prefer watching Indian movies for entertainment value versus those who are against watching Indian movies and would rather watch a Hollywood movie. Pakistani movies are not ever questioned mostly because quality-wise they are not even in the vacinity of the technological advances of Hollywood and/or Bollywood. I know, I know, I am stating the obvious.

As a Pakistani I should be able to accept our Movie Industries short comings by not paying attention to people who would only watch a Pakistani movie for the purpose of disecting and critisizing.

All one can say about the Pakistani Entertainment Industry as a whole is:

Ek aag a darya hai aur doob ke jaana hai!

The purpose of this post. Just stating the obvious! :stuck_out_tongue:

Man if u were with in my area, then u wud have done what ur nick says.

xcape tu shukar kar humaray ilakay mai nahi hai warna tujhe asli mai xcape hona parhay ga

that's a very harsh reply :( considering how advanced indian film industry is compared to ours basically there is zameen aur asman ka faraq between the 2 of us!!! we don't have the resourcs required to compete with them and hollywood for that matter so considering this i think we make ok'ish films given the budget we have to work on the films direction, production, distributin and wat have u!!!!

in what way is the indian film industry advanced? Even the indian media and industry itself admits that films have lost the charm they once used to have. They know its no longer bollywood’s golden age.

What I used to think: Its just that they make pretty movies, and our quam likes pretty movies. Pakistani movies are not pretty, but then there is no meat to them either.

What I now think: I’m confused about our quam, really, I am. Yeh Dil aap ka hua made it to the top with the poorest script I’ve ever seen, and yet, at the same time, a movie just as glammed up, like Pyar Hi Pyar Mein, flunks at the box office. And its script was no better, no worse from what I understand.

So, you know what? I think our quam is really strange. And I think they run after Indian movies for the same reason that cloth merchants in karachi’s greatest cloth bazaars use the line “yeh india ka naya kapra aaya hua hai” to rope in buyers, and for the same reason the society ladies are so proud to say “mera bhanja, the guitar player for such and such a band, is going on tour to India!”

 I think the problem is deeper. I think we’re suffering an identity crisis as a quam.

The Pakistani industry with it's ancient studio equipment does occasionally produce a few masterpieces - go watch Inteha and Laaj.

Just be sure that you go there to the theatre and support these movies whenever they come out, rather than just critisisin abt the quality, so that the industry gets to know that a market does exist for quality stuff.

I dont think that its the matter of resources or finances.. some very low budgeted movies with good direction and script have a done a great deal. I really think so that many of our Perdooser(Producers) Diractaar(Directors) doesnt have the mentality to make good films , they are as illiterate as our baychari awam is. Many of them know how to make a Masaala Film for Masses. but they really lack the ability to make films for classes..
And as i understand, these Producer Director Mafia doesnt like change or revolution as well. I saw one movie out of no where whose name was Kooriyuon ko Dalay Dana.. Man believe me it was the dirtiest movie i have seen after an english or indian Xrated movie. The dialogues, dresses and expression were above vulgarity and obscenity. after seeing some portion I thought keh I better should have watcehd an English Xrated movie, rather than this much disgust.

I hope I make my point clear.

Hey PCG,

How are you today? I had a similar incident when I went back home for a visit. I asked the store-keeper for a blemish cream and all of a sudden he starts telling me for only 5 Rupees more I could have the one made in India! That was quite laughable for me and after I got out of the shock I gave him a piece of my mind. Lets just say after that each time I went, he'd make sure anything 'Pakistani' doesn't escape my eye. ;)

As for the movies. Pakistani or not, I think they are to occupy leisurely persuits and I hardly have those now a days. :)

You are very right, as sad is it may sound but somewhere along the road some of us have lost our identity and in the bargain for so-called 'better' products our self-esteem as well.

Its not just a question of ability, its also a question of will it sell and have a good return on investment. So the movies are targetted to the masses..and you know what the masses are like. Go check out a cinema in Karachi to figure it out.

It was the same case with music until we had break through bands liek anzia/zohaib earlier and then VS, and Junoon etc. In that period there were other bands which tried to do their thing but public was just not ready for them e.g. barbarians.

For a product, in this case, a movie to be successful, a critical mass of consumers must exist. The producers are not experimenting and trying to reach a diff audience, they are following their tried and tested approach of producing junk that will atleast pay them and their actors.

hahahhaha who the hell told u to watch paki movie :hehe:
i have never seen a pakistani movie other than the goldies from 70s.
Nowadays, only trailors of these movies are enough to either make u laugh or puke (your choice) :rotfl:
