An NPR piece on Pakistan’s ‘free’ media
You can give Mushraff the credit or cry too little too late but the fact seems to suggest, media is free than it was ever before.
Though, free doesn’t mean good, honest or even ethical.

I agree that media is relatively more free/available than before (compared to one govt PTV show). It will take time for them (media runners) to realize what power and responsibility they have.

How come people forgot about attack on Aaj TV in karachi when police couldn't even make it to the spot even after 2 hrs of continuous firing.

Cool Breeze, give me some money and name and address of your enemy (better if it is a pro govt party) in Pakistan. I will send some guys to shoot the place down and we will see if the police interferes or not.
If I remember your profile correctly, posted in Shikras thread, you were in dmg group and one time so you cannot hide behind the naivety excuse. Police in Pakistan seldom interferes during a shoot out, be it for the lack of their training or arms.
The condition on 12 May was far far worse than an isolated shooting incident. Whole of Karachi was burning that day, police nay marna tha uss din action le ke.

One mediocre TV station gets some bullet marks outside of its walls and it's a great tragedy. Thousands of mohajirs get gunned down by the police and army and it's glossed over like it never happened. This is your version of "freedom"?
