Pakistani Meal Prep ideas?

So I have the usual gora type stuff - grilled chicken with no real spices, veg, rice etc. But it gets so boring. Does anyone have any healthy desi meal prep ideas?

Also tips for weight loss…the golden question hehe

Re: Pakistani Meal Prep ideas?

Spices usually increase satiety without adding calories so definitely start cooking with them. I’d start by accurately calculating how many calories you’re actually consuming… most people grossly under estimate this! You can be making all the healthy food in the world and still overeating. Then I’d figure out your TDEE and adjust your lifestyle accordingly.

Re: Pakistani Meal Prep ideas?

I just checked it and it was super helpful - thanks!!!

Keep us posted yeah? I’m about to take my dog for a walk but when I’ve got a few minutes I’ll see if I can write a couple of recipes out.

Re: Pakistani Meal Prep ideas?

The latest thing now is intermittent fasting it improves overall health a lot. What they say is eat only 6 to 8 hrs a day and nothing in between. It is a cycle of feed and fast. Dieting never works you have to adopt a healthy lifestyle. Your plate should be quarter protein, quarter whole grain starch and half vegetables. You can have lots of tandoori items, tikka boti etc. Eat stuff with low glycemic index. Meats have a lot of satiety so increase meat consumption. Minimum activity of half hour a day. You can eat lots of fish also and do resistance exercises. I love kettlebell exercises and body weight exercise.

Re: Pakistani Meal Prep ideas?

Thanks!
Yeah I plan on joining the gym on Tuesday iA. I am nervous cos I don’t feel confident at all. I want to loose a considerable amount of weight.

Yeah I have heard of intermittent fasting too. Seems so doable in Ramadan, and it is, but fasting outside of that month seems almost impossible LOL. Have you seen Dr Eric Berg’s YouTube videos? Very interesting

Re: Pakistani Meal Prep ideas?

Of corse! This will be the first week of making a conscience decision to start my weight loss journey inshallah. I need Duas avoiding the sweet stuff, most of all hahaha.

Yes that would be great, thanks.

Btw I did meal prep non pak food today though - Mexican salad (corn, red onion, tomatoes, red kidney beans, dunya, lemon juice, 1 tablespoon mayo, salt and pepper) w chicken and Chinese stir fry w capsicum peppers. Tried to portion it smaller, not just cos of weight loss but also I get soooooooo drowsy at work if I eat too much lol.

Wish me luck!!! iA.

Re: Pakistani Meal Prep ideas?

Have been intermittent fasting since Feb 2017 for 22 hours and eating only 2. In the time that I am fasting I am also working out. It seems difficult in the beginning but gets easier by time. Breakfast was the one meal I wont give up but with intermittent fasting I don't miss it anymore. The only thing I would have in the morning is black coffee.

Good Luck!!

Re: Pakistani Meal Prep ideas?

wow how do you do that man? I've absolutely no control over my hunger :\

Re: Pakistani Meal Prep ideas?

I didnt either. I started with 16/8 fasting and worked my way up. Now my body knows it will not get anything before 22 hours so it doesnt bother me much....I can stay hungry upto 27 hours sometimes.

Re: Pakistani Meal Prep ideas?

I am doing the 15/16 for three days now and I tell you I feel great. Food tastes so much better and the digestion gets some good rest. I don't really want to do 24 hrs. too often, Maybe once a week.

Re: Pakistani Meal Prep ideas?

There are 6 types of intermittent fasting. Intermittent Fasting Methods Reviewed: Pros and Cons
I do the second. I didn’t start it with the intention of weight loss or anything. Monday and Thursday fasts are sunnah, so I figured it’s going to be beneficial for the body as well as the sawab. You could try this one. It’s not at all difficult, specially if you keep the sawab point in mind.

Re: Pakistani Meal Prep ideas?

For sawab its for sure different..but otherwise do you even need that? :halo:

Re: Pakistani Meal Prep ideas?

Either way I used to skip breakfast and lunch often or have lunch after Asr. So, it was ok. At least this way I made sure I had at least two meals (suhoor and iftar) on Mondays and Thursdays or my parents wouldn’t let me keep it.
I watched the documentary by the British journalist regarding it too and that was quite convincing.

Re: Pakistani Meal Prep ideas?

^ have you guys lost any weight with intermittent fasting? If so, how much and how long did it take?

Re: Pakistani Meal Prep ideas?

I started in February of 2017 and since then had lost around 50 lbs mostly due to intermittent fasting as I couldn't workout much.

Re: Pakistani Meal Prep ideas?

thats amazing! do you mind sharing your routine and meals? what do you eat? do you splurge occasionally?

Re: Pakistani Meal Prep ideas?

Not at all. If you are on myfitnesspal look me up. Same id as here. That would spell out what I used to do as I am not regular on myfitnesspal for quite some time. You should get an idea from when I started in August 2016 till June 2017.

In the time I was losing constantly I didnt splurge at all. After getting laid off from work I did put on 20 lbs back since my eating habits changed but still working with intermittent fasting.
