Pakistani Man kills daughter for standing up for herself

Ladies and gentlemen, may I present to you Mr. Family Honor. Straight out of the Dark Ages, Mr. Family Honor has killed his adult daughter for not wanting to stay married to someone she never wanted to marry in the first place.

P.S. The title is what it is because World Affairs is where we can generalize based on religion/race. Prevailing trend, I’m just trying to fit in.

re: Pakistani Man kills daughter for standing up for herself

You're trying a bit too hard.

Nonetheless, It's a sad, and unfortunate thing. It should never have occured. It's in the same class as the one from prior where the father killed his daughter for refusing to wearing Hijab or as he claimed dressing inappropriately.

Pity his backwardish and uneducated mentality has lasting effects and taints the name of an entire community at-large.

May she rest in peace.

PS: Please read the description of the subforum, WA/PA are **geo-political* subforums that covers events taking place in Pakistan as well as Global scene. I do not see how this fits that description; therefore, the thread will be moved to appropriate subforum.*

May she rest in peace. :bummer::bummer:

Re: Pakistani Man kills daughter for standing up for herself

:(

Well it is a shockingly common practice back in Pakistan, murder of a female member of family by a relative, because she is thought to have brought dishonour to the family.

Official estimates place the number of murders in the name of honour at 4,383 women in the last 4 years.

The actual figure would be much higher, but hard to calculate as many cases are never reported or known outside the family.

Yet, no strong steps have been taken to curb this crime and bring those who commit it to justice.

The shocking part is that the murders of these women in the name of honour are thought to be a private matter in many parts of Pakistan and rarely are the murderers ever brought to justice or punished.

It is abysmal to see that Pakistanis are carrying this honour killing , a retarded ritual , outside of Pakistan . As there is no justification of such killing for the sake of the family’s honour, this type of incident is earning Pakistan a bad name.

There was a similar case in 2006 , where Hina Saleem, a 21-year old Pakistani woman, was murdered by her father in Brescia, Italy.

And it aint just before marriage stuff , we Pakistani are too ruthless to let it go even after the marriage .

In 2005, MULTAN, Pakistan , Five family members were murdered in a suspected honour killing.

Gunmen broke into the home of Munnawar Mai and opened fire, killing Mai, her husband Mukhtar and their two-year-old son as well as the mother and a brother of Mukhtar.

Reason ? well Mai and Mukhtar eloped and married in 2002, defying her parents wish that she wed a cousin. So Mai's family was still angry over her marriage… here ya go

And In 1999 , Pakistan's upper house, the Senate, rejected a resolution condemning the growing incidence of murder of women in the name of family honour. The resolution was moved by the main opposition party in 1999 ] of former prime minister Late Benazir Bhutto..

Butt members from the highly conservative tribal region of the north-west frontier province prevailed upon the house to stop the move. Much to the surprise of many, they were fully backed by a left-wing opposition group, Awami National Party… I wonder how ANP stands for Democracy now
