Pakistani/ Indian kapre

I absolutely despise buying desi clothes from here in the UK. Reason being,
most of the clothes where I live are Indian. Hence full of sataray and bharkeela embroidery. I prefer light embroidery. I also like to follow the current trends. I feel that in this part of the world, desis don’t really care whether short shirts are not still in. My family in particular stick to the latest trends so it look silly if i’m wearing horrible bright orange kapre with horrendous embroidery. When I compare some of the clothes from here and outfits that I have bought from Pak I can see a massive difference between the two.

Remember everyone is entitled to an opinion. My opinion may defer from yours. We are not bashing anyone. I just want to know where you prefer having your clotehs from and why?

Re: Pakistani/ Indian kapre

Why not follow trends in the country you live in as opposed to somewhere so far away it doesn't really matter what they wear? not all indian clothes are bharkeelay, i can find hundreds of pakistani outfits that are just as bad.
depends on where you shop and each persons individual taste.

Re: Pakistani/ Indian kapre

I don't buy clothes from here (UK) as I've never liked anything the limited times I've looked,n or generally liked what people wear. That's just my style, it's quite understated and most of the clothes here are not. Usually the fabrics are synthetic and workmanship poor quality but the prices will be high.

Re: Pakistani/ Indian kapre

i've seen some pretty gorgeous indian outfits here (NY)...esp their sarees..cant compare to pakistani sarees.. but the pakistani stuff sold here is..i wouldn't say outdated, but its not up to the date trendy either. nothing wrong with that.

Re: Pakistani/ Indian kapre

I have seen some really pretty pakistani clothes but they are really expensive.

There is a difference in price and in variety (ovbiously)

But online vendors are making it easy to fill that gap. Just got to find the right ones.

Re: Pakistani/ Indian kapre

It’s true that you rarely find the trendy stuff here in Usa. What’s funny is that sales people in desi stores would insist the stuff they are showing you (4 years old fashion) is the latest trend in Pakistan at the moment as if you don’t know any better.

Few months back I went to this indian store, they did have some nice anarkalis but that’s about it, rest of their stuff wasn’t all that. So I was looking around and they had those short shirts with bell bottoms (if you guys remember what girls in ‘kusum’ wore back around 2001), and the sales lady insisted that was THE LATEST FASHION FROM PAKISTAN. As if!!

In my family it does matter where girls don't repeat the same outfit. I prefer Pakistni clothes and I don't think I can change that. Here in the city I live in I feel people don't really knw what's in fashion, they just wear what they canfind :)
