Pakistani ID Card Question Please?

I am a dual-national Pakistani, with both Pakistani and British nationality.

I currently have an ID (Identity) card, which has expired. It says shnakhti card on the front of it, written in Urdu.

I wish to apply for a new ID card.

I was born and am currently residing in the UK. I have enquired in the UK and they have said I can only get a National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis or NICOP. What I would like is a CNIC (Computerized National Identity Card ), which is the type of ID (“Shnakhti”) card given to Pakistani residents, rather than those Pakistanis who are Overseas.

I am planning to go to Pakistan soon, and if I apply for an ID card in Pakistan will I be able to get a CNIC card from there? Or will I only be eligible for a NICOP card, even if I apply for the ID card in Pakistan?

Also, are ID card’s printed in Pakistan in English or Urdu please? The ones I’ve seen in the UK are printed in English, but one I’ve seen made in Pakistan was in Urdu.

Thank you very much. I appreciate your assistance.

Re: Pakistani ID Card Question Please?

Why do you want the pakistani resident one?

Re: Pakistani ID Card Question Please?

Like I said in your other thread. You must register yourself as a dual citizenship holder. The URDU ID card is no longer valid in Pakistan (as far I know) because now they are issuing Smart NICOP (English + Urdu) both combined in it. You may apply for it.

If you would like to keep your Pakistani nationality then as per Emigration and overseas employment protection, you need NICOP but if you are not interested in making of NICOP then go for Smart NICOP.

Re: Pakistani ID Card Question Please?

Thank you for the feedback. I appreciate it very much.

I would like the CNIC (Computerized National Identity Card) because I would like to permanently move to Pakistan, and therefore prefer to have a CNIC rather than a NICOP. Will they allow me to go get a CNIC card if I go to the relevant centre to make ID cards in Pakistan? Or will I not be eligible for a CNIC because I also have British nationality?

Re: Pakistani ID Card Question Please?

If you would like to have privileges as being a Pakistani then register yourself in UK consulate and obtain dual citizenship certificate. Visit Pakistan and get Smart NICOP (as it the latest ID which issued by the Govt).

Or

If somehow you obtained the CNIC and not registered yourself as a holder of another nationality then maybe or maybe not, it will be not good in your favour.
