My niece came to the UK after marrige, She came on spouse visa and used her Pakistani Passport to arrive here. She had the old CNIC card which is commonly known as the ID card or “Shinahathi Card”. She has been given indefinite leave to remain here in the UK but doesn’t have british citizenship yet. ( She needs to spend more time here)
Her home was broken into and she had her passport and ID card in a handbag together which the burglars took. Now she cannot make new Pakistani Passport because she doesn’t have an ID card and according to the Consular website of London she needs an ID card / NICOP so she can get a passport made. Therefore we are looking to get her ID card replaced however we have been informed and unsure if this information is accurate that in the UK they will not supply you with an CNIC card but will give you the NICOP card which is the National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis. The difference being is that one is just an ID card i.e. CNIC just proves your identity and the NICOP is for Pakistanis who are living abroad and it has certain benefits such as visa free entry into Pakistan and is given to dual nationals like myself or people with residence permits which she has.
Coming onto my main question one of the requirements to go from CNIC to NICOP is having an both the old CNIC and Passport present which have both been stolen? So will I be able to get an NICOP without these both things? The website says for passports if its lost you need an Police Report but doesn’t say anything about loosing the CNIC? or loosing both?
I have tried calling the Consulate on various numbers but no one ever answers. I could go on for ages of what I think of the Pakistani Consular services but I may be here fore day or two pointing all the issues. They have no customer services and treat you like sheep when you arrive, there’s seems to be no sense of urgency and generally poorly organised thinking they are the dogs nutts! I know problem is mainly down to the fact they have been put in these positions through Safrish rather then Merit and therefore are clueless.
Does anyone have any experience in this matter who may have had gone through similar procedure? I would be highly grateful for any type of info.
