Just heard on ARY. A helicopter alongwith 6 army officials crashed while carrying provisions to quake stricken areas. God bless the souls of those died in this noble cause.

Re: Pakistani helicopter crashes during relief mission

May Allah elevate their ranks in Jannat. That is very sad.

This should open the eyes of people who are criticising the army for not doing enough. In reality there is a nightmare of Logistcs management up there.

The damage is in such a huge scale that that despite all out efforts by army and relief teams there are still areas where accessability is difficult.

Helicoptors are machine and their pilots are humans the area is very difficult to fly and to land choppers .... they are doing sortees tirelessly .... and more to misery the weather is posing major hudles.

here is what the situation is like

in the morning right after sunrise pilot fly these MI 17 ( if weather is clear ) from base and take relief goods along with 6~8 personnel they reach the far flung area and drop relief goods.... then they try to find a place to land the helicoptor which is realy difficult to find ( the area is hilly and steep and these chopper are big so they need wide area to land )
Now if they are lucky and find somewhere to land then they try to find injured so to take them back at base. No matter how many hundreds of injured are there, these choppers can take only 5 or 6 at maximum along with crew. They come back to the base

This complete sortie take about 4~5 hours, if the weather is clear at most.
In a day one helicoptor could only do 2 sorties.

It give an idea that how limited can be relief efforts if only helicoptors are used .. But on the other hand these machines are only way of reaching far flung areas where otherwise road links are broken and teams need days to reach, and required relief good may take week to reach

Re: Pakistani helicopter crashes during relief mission

They died while trying to save the people of their Lord. I am sure ALLAH will give them the status of Shaheed for Allah is the best judge and continuosuly forgiving.

Aameen.

My cousin is in army aviation. The pilot who died used to live opposite to his room. the colonel that died was his instructor. He was on the next flight to my cousin :( :S
