Re: Pakistani Gals & Miss world competitions.
have you not seen that mahleej girl whos apparently miss pakistan from canada ![]()
Re: Pakistani Gals & Miss world competitions.
…i didnt know about this mahleej
…but i saw two pakistani gal (well i cant really tell about others since there names dont sound pakistani) are running in Miss World Canada ![]()
see this video…they are happening in pakistan for the past 6 years ![]()
Re: Pakistani Gals & Miss world competitions.
I don't know about it happening in Pakistan but it does happen every year in Canada. Mahleej Sarkar was on NKS and there was a HUGE controversy made out of it from both sides. If you check on youtube, you'll find it all. It was an amusing show- both the guests and their 'guftugoo' was a bit too bold for the audience.. most of the callers and sms were quite bashful and rightly so. On top of that, that Mahleej chick openly declared how she has feelings for ex president Musharraf and wants to go out on a date with him (along with some censored details). Yeah, totally didn't go very well with the audience.
Re: Pakistani Gals & Miss world competitions.
if they dont let women participate in such competition then ppl say “saudi-isation” is happening if they let them then ppl cant hazam-ofy it. what we want i really dont understand:konfused:
if revealing clothes is a problem then honestly all desi khawateen r not burqaposh. they r ok with wearing revealing clothes. then y all this hoo-haa??![]()
Re: Pakistani Gals & Miss world competitions.
^^Really i never heard that. if you wear clothes that aren't revealing and show that your modest dosn't mean your an extremist or anything. You don't have to wear a burkah to cover yourself, theres something called decent clothes.
I'm sure pakistani people doing Bikini Ms.World competitions isn't helping pak reputation at all. All in all pakistan doesn't have any identity anymore.
Re: Pakistani Gals & Miss world competitions.
modest clothing is one thing. but when ur in showbiz its different. thats y its called “showbiz”
most ppl r ok with pakistani models and actresses wearing watever but when it comes to beauty competitions thats where it becomes a big deal. y? ![]()
u see models wearing next to nuthing in pakistani magazies. no1 says they r not representing pakistan. we represent pakistan only in beauty competitions?![]()
Re: Pakistani Gals & Miss world competitions.
Leaving the religious factor, i think that Pakistani girls shouldnt enter any such competitions at all...they dont get the type of support other girls get, they dont get the grooming other girls get, they dont get the training other girls get...so they for me are embaressing us like that going there without any preprations and making a fool out of themselves, well not because of anyother reason but because people are like they donnt know anything so just to prove it to people that Pakistani girls are modern enough these girls enter these competitions and get out in the first round...and just like before being appreciated by the out siders our singers were called marasis these girls are also looked down upon while our models wear similar stuff and they are still liked...
Re: Pakistani Gals & Miss world competitions.
wearing bikini and then walk on the runway wont get us any respect.
what our models wearing these days and the women who are following their footsteps bringing equal shame to our ideology.
before we were thrall of ideological crisis only and now we are deprived.
Re: Pakistani Gals & Miss world competitions.
i googled for Mahleej i found these pix but the comments below from pak viewers r quite enjoyable.
Miss Pakistan World Mahleej Sarkari Pictures, Pics, Hot Photos
these girls insult our country n religion by using both for their own selfish reasons.
countless ppl travel everyday on bicycle, but when Zia-ul-Haq travels on it, it made the headline.
it all started when slowly our fashion scene grabbed western mood in their lines, which later followed by our “so-called-educated-women” (instead of using their intellect they rather use a cheap ways to please).
our fashion designers rather than getting western inspiration they took the entire west and put it for us. media also got localized which further boomed these designers.
West is a very successful in doing business. in business what matters is quality and quantity. the less fabric you use to make one dress the more fabric is left to make countless more dresses. but they simply cant put this in front of the women. they gotta sell it…so use they use inner desire…and that is FREEDOM!
Pakistani women, whether she is rich or poor educated or uneducated they all are under heavy heavy surveillance.
ps. do you know why two three years ago “abeya” was in the fashion? Islam was there since Muhammad bin qasim came there…but what happened all of a sudden?
Re: Pakistani Gals & Miss world competitions.
I maybe totally crazy out here but I think that the Islamic Republic of Pakistan should establish their identity by sticking to the morals and principles it was founded on. There is no need to "fit in" and progress in areas that have no value and go against the moral foundations of the country's predominant belief system. I think there way much more real talent and strength than having our women stoop to international levels that make us contradict our very purpose.
i totally agree! ![]()
well model or miss pakistan both r in spotlight. so wat ur saying is that pakistani media is all together responsible so is bechari akeeli ka kia qasoor hai?
how am i supposed to know u tell me ![]()
Re: Pakistani Gals & Miss world competitions.
:smack: relax zobia, no they are not
“The Miss Pakistan pageant, now in its sixth year, is unique as these things go. None of this year’s 12 contestants, to start, reside in Pakistan, but hail instead from the United States, Canada and England. (The full title reflects that international flavor: Miss Pakistan World.) And the contestants do not compete for the crown in Lahore or Islamabad, but in Mississauga, Ontario. Pakistan, apparently, is not yet ready for a beauty pageant, although why that is depends on whom you ask.”

Re: Pakistani Gals & Miss world competitions.
absolutely and for this very reason Pakistan or its govt does not endorse or recognize this competiton, there are no local girls in it and does not take place locally, thus the title Miss Pakistan “World”. It only gained popularity after a very controversial appearance of the orgnizer and winner on a popular Pakistani talk show in Dubai (NKS) where both of them were grilled over the authenticity of the title. most Pakistanis had never even heard of it.

Miss Pakistan World is a beauty pageant](Beauty pageant - Wikipedia) held in **Mississauga, Ontario](Mississauga - Wikipedia). Its contestants are women with mostly Pakistani](Pakistanis - Wikipedia) heritage who reside in the United States](United States - Wikipedia), Canada](Canada - Wikipedia) and the **United Kingdom](United Kingdom - Wikipedia). The winner represents Pakistan](Pakistan - Wikipedia) in some international competitions and other events.
Founded in 2002 by Toronto](Toronto - Wikipedia) entrepreneur Sonia Ahmed, the contest is held in Canada because beauty pageants are highly controversial in Pakistan and if it were held there, security for contestants would be too problematic.[1]](Miss Pakistan World - Wikipedia) According to Ahmed, “Pakistan’s slow changing movement to liberate its women forbids such events from taking place on its soil.”
The pageant has been criticized by Pakistani feminist](Feminism - Wikipedia)Amna Buttar](Amna Buttar - Wikipedia) of the Asian-American Network Against Abuse of Human Rights, who wrote in an email to the New York Times, "In Pakistan, we are trying to get basic rights for women: right to marry, right to divorce, equal opportunity for job and education, and issues like Miss Pakistan create problems for this movement. An average Pakistani young woman does not want to wear a bikini in public, and for her it is important to have equal opportunity and all focus should be on that, and not on a pageant where only the elite can participate.
Re: Pakistani Gals & Miss world competitions.
Well that's good to know.
Re: Pakistani Gals & Miss world competitions.
Finally something good from a feminist.
seriously, what “rights” does prancing around on stage in a bikini give u? fine, maybe it helps YOU but how does it help the ppl u “represent”? miserable/poor representations of Pakistani women. ![]()
i started this thread after knowing that two of the Pakistani origin gal are participating in Miss World Canada so this thread is not entirely about this bukwas looking chic Mahleej Sarkari, instead its about all the deprived gal why the heck they using Pakistani ideology?
KB- its no other than our fabric manufactures ( with the help of foreign investment + unprecedented media + and our foreign idolized designers).
they made the fabric as thin as not even a “shemeez” can hide the purpose it is use for …and it means they made the fabric sooo thin that they are translucent. so women have to use abaya.
Re: Pakistani Gals & Miss world competitions.
Why such ghissa pita topic in this phorum ?
There are about dozens of thread in culture forum during last many years. Discussing the same.
In my naked opinion, Pakistani beauties are flawless, boombastic champions of these competitions. Few such trial were different in last few years. I dont know why but they were interesting. :chai:
