yeah not my type of furniture, but the ppl who like more ornate and traditional stuff have ordered from there and like the quality and designs.

Actually I love traditional Pakistani furniture, it is the best in the world both from an aesthetic and a quality perspective. I don't like any of this Western stuff be it contemporary or antiquated classic Victorian/French pieces, they are base and lack beauty, the reason for which can only be attributed to the culturally starved uncreative brains of those who created them, coming from cultures which know no vibrancy or sense of style when it comes to the arts.

This Kalamkaar website doesn't seem to feature truly Pakistani styles at all, they are all either pseudo-Spanish/French/Italian or pseudo-Perso-Arabic, not to mention they are baddd copies.. The 'Ishq Chest looks like something out of a childrens nursery/kindergarten...

For proper Pakistani furniture you people want to visit Pakistan and catch a cab to Chiniot, Faisalabad, Jhang, Punjab... They have the bestest furniture in the world suitable for all tastes and budgets..

^ agreed, my sister did that, she had all her stuff designed and manufactured in pakistan and then shipped it over, same for one of my cousins.

as for myself, I am probably one of teh 'culturally starved uncreative brains' type of people sinxce my house is a mix of japanese zen, mid century modern and danish modern style.

We recently needed a little furniture for our dinning room… and went to the Lahore furniture market and sadly the bulk of the furniture is chinese now…:bummer: really can’t believe this thing… we r losing one by one all our strongholds due to the pathetic policies and big statements only… very little pakistani furniture was available in readymade mode… if you have to get Pakistani furniture then you have to get it made on special order.

our local manufacturers are not competitive. I suppose the govt can provide some sort of protection to them, but that would mean that consumers would not be getting the benefit of open competition.
