I’ve loved only one Pakistani movie and that movie name is Nikkah. Very touchy as well as a good social one

".......pak is also an islamic country so i think that they shouldnt make films like they do now adays. "

Hmm...then I suppose we should not be watching Indian movies or American movies either, right?

Ah, yeah, like that will ever happen.

I do not find anything unislamic about film-making. You can make socially responsible films anytime. And the idea of getting rid of the film industry altogther would be absolutely fruitless, becuz Pakistanis will watch Indian films more and their lives will become more boring than they already are. Instead, Pakistani entertainers should come toward films and bring the industry to the quality it should be at now. It would provide entertainment to Pakistanis as an alternative to Indian movies, it would promote our social values and address our social issues and further integrate our subcultures (since regionalism has killed the nation), and provide a healthy source of revenue for the nation.

Oh and please wake up. Pakistan is far from an Islamic country.

Well said Pyari!!

I am going to add to that by saying that Paki films try (unsuccesfully) to copy Indian cinema with TRAGIC results. I think movies in Pak should be expanded in terms of Genre. Horror, Mystery, Drama, Romance etc., are some examples of genre development. Another problem I see is regional cinema. In particular, Punjabi/Pashtu films have liitle appeal beyond their home provinces. Urdu films should be brought in the forefront while maintaining the regional variations.

Yes i agree

dude, what is up with punjabi films these days? everyone is trying to make a punjabi film. Ah shows…no one gives a hoot about the nation, people only care for their own provinces. I mean, urdu films are so much better anyways, even now when the industry is

some people!

Pyari, its all about the flamboyant Punjabi culture. Like every other song you will hear coming out of Pak. will be in Punjabi. Even Urdu speaking singers doing the whole Punjabi thing. And I’m not even going to talk about those movies, which are more comedic to me than anything else.

I don’t want to get political here, but one of the reasons that there is no ‘Pakistani’ identity is because simple minded folks are blinded into believing their fellow Sindhi, Pashtu, Punjabi and Baluchi nationalists who like to claim how much better their specific ethno-lingual group is, rather than adapting a more unified Pakistani approach while being proud of their provincial heritage.

Thats cos people arent living in the ice ages anymore buddy. Wake up and look around you. If you dont like what you see.........Afghanistan awaits!

Perhaps you did not read my post correctly. I claimed that Pakistani films can be socially responsible if made so. 99% of today's movies are far from it.

Nach gaana does not HAVE to be included in a film for it to be a film. A film , can instead by socially responsible by addressing core issues of society in a sober and/or entertaining manner.

Furthermore, dance is not haraam. Yes, mujras are, and much of what u see in Pakistani films are not classical dance or modern dance, but a glamorized form of mujra (not in all cases). HOwever, the industry is moving away from that slowly and if you watch programmes like film sangeet, perhaps you would be familiar with the un-ghattiya dances and choreography in films like Khoey Ho Tum Kahan, Yeh Dil Aap Ka Hua, Tere Pyar Mein, Inteha, Mujhe Chand Chahiye etc.

And for all of those who complain about the pakistani film industry being a negative influence in terms of religion, please wake up and smell Indian culure. Indian movies, music (including pop) are far more popular in Pakistan than Pakistani entertainment. I'd suggest that before attacking the Pakistani film industry for spreading social corruption, you attack the Indian media influence as well as our wonderful brothels like Heera Mandi - for these are far worse in deteriorating the sexual sanctity promoted in Islam, than Pakistani films.
