In a country, where drama scripts are so sought after, even TODAY, after privatization of television channels, and the drive to make money, Pakistani drama is breathing again with QUALITY scripts. The trashy tele-dramas copied on indian tv lines are now being abandoned, and I think it was a temporary lapse in judgement on the part of the TV owners. Now the dramas are getting better again, not at the level of PTV days, but they’re focusing more on dialogue and story lines.
So if we can write good scripts for dramas, why can’t our movies be of more substance?
I keep posting the promos for the upcoming films, but most of them seem like fluff, with no story line, just really beatifully made up actresses and some good looking actors, many of whom don’t even act well.
Becuase of the digital age it has become easier to produce films, though I agree with the article that now the emphasis needs to turn towards storytelling and scriptwriting. One shouldn't produce a film because they want to show of their filmmaking but because the story that they have must be told and that there is a reason for it being on the big screen as oppose to television.
