Pakistani Exports

A reader S. Nayyar Iqbal stated that recently he went to Muree and Nathiagali and saw children selling roasted corn-on-the cob and daisy garlands each priced Rs. 5/- He had seen standard size roses in English films. He quotes Holland exports tulips world over, Thailand exports orchids which is a multi million dollar business. He wonders why Punjab and NWFP Governments do not cultivate flowers and export as suitable environment, climate and manpower exists..

We not only have merely environment suitable for flowers rather we have everything God given. Our only unfortunate our own criminal lacking is proper education, proper guidance and awareness. And we do not want our people to have proper suitable education and this is why our intellectuals like Hanif Ramay after getting their own children educated in Grammer American schools today are try hard to make education in Punjabi so what even poor children are getting they may be deprived of from that too.

I was working in the Middle East then. A very pious and Pakistan loving Pakistani businessman settled there two years back one day was very sad. He told me that morning he had to sit with Pakistani Ambassador there. Talking generally the Ambassador told him that the Embassy received that week some official gift packets from Pakistan for onward forwarding to high top level dignitaries. The gift packets contained Pakistani fresh mangos. Since Ambassador was a retired military person who are trained in fine discipline he asked his staff for a second check of Mangos before delivery to dignitaries. According to the Ambassador many of the mangos were over ripped. He removed all these, purchased from the local market Pakistani mangos, repacked the gifts and delivered. When he spoke over the phone with the authorities back in Pakistan according to the Ambassador the reply from Islamabad side was as if he (the Ambassador) was speaking lies. Pakistani products, Pakistani manpower all are nice God gifted. The only need is proper education to live with standards procedures and measures adopted by the world today re selection, preservation, packing, handling etc..
