Pakistani Dramas and quality

I am right now watching an old drama based on the events that happened at “Jalyaan walaa baagh”. We need more dramas such as this one to educate us about history.

This was the case a few years back, I remember watching excellent Historic dramas such as Nishaan e Haider and Qaid e Azam. This trend of making Historic dramas has diminished.

All I see now when I turn to Pakistani TV. Foreign locations, Millions of rupees, big houses, beautiful women and Irum Hassan. I think we are “insprired” too much by the Indian showbiz industry.

We need to change this trend and come up with original stuff! Pakistani dramas were known for there originality. We need to keep that up!

well it's not that Pakistani dramas aren't
touching these kinda delicate issues or
the history.
Gazi Ilam Din Shaheed is a new drama serial
starring Touqir Nasir which is a story before
partition. Ilam din murders a hindu fanatic
and then muslims call on Jinnah as Ilam Din's
attorney.
Another new drama Laila Mujnoo is also an old
epic tale.
It's just that in the early 90's there were
so many drama serial and mini drama made
on the issue of kashmir, Angaar Wadi of Rauf
Kahild's being one of those classic.
Success of Ghazi Ilam Din Shaheed may prove
a good sign for the producers and then we
could see writers and directors flipin' the
pages of history books.

I don't know whats so unoriginal about the dramas nowadays. It's entertainment, and thats what people want. Some dramas are shot outside of Pakistani, on foreign grounds but are based on the lives of Pakistanis abroad. All of this requires money, and if they don't show beautiful women, should they show ugly women instead?

I agree that we should have dramas based on history but tell me would you be willing to watch a historic drama every other day. It is because historic dramas are shown rarely that we come to appreciate them. People want to live in the present and appreciate the past and they require such entertainment too. I for one am pleased with the quality of pop music and most of the dramas shown on Prime TV, we've come a long way. With Indian showbiz threatening to lure most if not all of pakistani audience away, i am glad with the way things are progressing in pakistani showbiz sector. That day isn't far when we will produce good quality films.

I disagree. You say that the purpose of dramas is mere entertainment. Usually dramas and dramas from Pakistan usually have some kind of message being conveyed through them. This is not the case with our Dramas anymore. We are copying more and more from our neighbours and the sad part is our dramas were a lot better than that of India's.

There arent some dramas shot outside of Pakistan. Almost all dramas are shot outside of Pakistan. Because the producers want to concentrate of locations more than the storylines!

And frankly I would much rather have an ugly woman act than a model look pretty and ruin the depth of a scene by not knowing how to act! I am sure you would to Sehar!

I agree with Sehar. It really seems that the Pakistani community is never satisfied with ANYTHING that the Pakistani dramas come out with. I mean, some stuff sucks and some doesn't. Appreciation should be given where it deserves, and rarely do I see young Pakistanis giving any appreciation to anything that is Pakistani.

We need a variety of programmes. Some dramas should be light, romantic - others should have a social message, others should be comedic, etc - so that everyone finds something they like. If all dramas were socially oriented, then many wouldn't like watching Pak dramas.

That's why you see more entertainment-oriented dramas today than before - its to pull in the Indian film watching crowds. Hey, at least they're succeeding.

Variety is good. The 7:45 walay dramas on Prime, for example, have variety. Each drama targets a different crowd.

In terms of Dramas - Prime is a good channel.

The stupid dramas revolving around glamour and western cities simply suck, and are giving a bad name to an otherise excellent feature of Pak Tv.

PCG no one was complaining when these great dramas alibeta is talking about aired in the good old days.

Btw, Prime → The worst thing is that it borrows dramas from PTV which are on the average an year old. A person coming from Pakistan switching to Prime can find has to bear the reruns

I wish they could somehow change Prime to a day old telecast of the original PTV, that would be awesome, but I guess the guys back in Pakistan deserve the best

What are you talkin' about.
I would've bought your statement last year
when prime was started in the US.
But right now the dramas that we're watching
are up to date.
Visit these Pakistani sites, muziqpakistsan.net, muziqpakistan.com,
or check the entertainment pages of dawn.com,
nawaiwaqt, jang these sites have current
reviews and new on the dramas, Landa Bazaar,
Moqaam, Thori Kushi Thora Ghum, Badlon Pe
Basera.
You can also check the PTV's schedule for
Pakistan and you'll see that they're wathcing
the same dramas.

BTW, prime is starting a new drama on saturday called Chamak and in Pakistan it
was started last week.
