I recently had my DNA tested by Genographic project - Led by a team of National Geographic scientists, the Genographic Project uses advanced DNA analysis to better understand human genetic roots. All humans today are mixed and having a percentage of different ethnicity embedded in their DNA.
Pasted below are my results ; Myself being an ethnic Punjabi clearly indicate a higher percentage of central Asian ancestry compared to an average Indian. I am going to paste my results as well as results for average Indians from different parts of India.
Now, it can be debated that as Pakistanis having indigenous roots to the region ( Balochs, Punjabies, Pakhtuns, Sindies) are we more closer genetically to Indians or the affinity is more towards central asia? My genetic results from National Geographic , compared to the regional data set they have, clearly show that an average Pakistani is much lesser south asian as many would assume to be !

You are Punjabi and you got those results? Interesting. I am ethnically Pakistani Punjabi (both of my parents are from northeast Punjab–like Sialkot, Gujranwala, basically north of Lahore) and I think that these tests are pointless because it would tell me what I already know (that I am 95% or above South Asian).
Considering the ethnic diversity in Pakistan, the percentages for each ethnic group will be all over the place. Punjabis and Sindhis will obviously have more S Asian percentanges than Pashtuns and people from Balochistan considering where each part of the country is placed. Just by inferring Pakistani Punjabis+Sindhis will probably be something like what is given for Nothern Indian. I suppose you also have to factor in religion and hierarchies and how that influenced marriage trends in modern day Pakistan. Do you have the results for the breakdown of Pakistan?
I suppose whatever the results are, for most of us it will show that either we are (or at least close to) 50-50 Central/South Asian or our non S Asian percentages are pretty negligible. Well, it is just a guess anyways.

If you are from Sialkot, you will also get more or less the same results like me. Pakistanies in general have a higher central asian component than our Indian counter parts. The results are based on Autosomal chromosomes which constitutes like 98 percent of our DNA. Balochs and Pakhtuns might score a higher asian minor or arab ancestry. Some punjabi historians claim Sycthian/hun ancestry which were ancient people of central asia and perhaps of DNA results give a clue of that .

Interesting, I was going to take one of these dna tests because I have quite diverse family even though all of us are punjabi (as far as I know) but then I recently heard about these companies selling your information to insurance companies and other data bases so I decided to hold it off. Nevertheless, thanks for sharing.

Now that I really looked at the placement of Sialkot on a map and its relative location I can see where we could possibly have a higher C Asian percentage, but for some reason I still have a hard time believing my C Asian would be that high.

during the ancient times, a lot of tribes migrated from the steppes of central asia to Northern fertile plains of Pakistan. I mean look at the map… I have hilighted north easter punjab, where we both are from and also hilighted central asia. Interestingly enough the distance between northern punjab and central asia is less than the distance between islamabad and karachi. And imagine how far we are from Central and South India. Map explains it all.

Haha that is only part of the story. Insurance companies use that data to see what diseases you may be prone to and then can deny you insurance. It is a steep hill.

anything under 10 percent , my take is to neglect it as some genetic similarity is always possible between us and the Europeans. It is the major percentages that decide your ethnicity and your looks. Your looks for example ( eyes, nose shape, color. height etc etc. ) is decided by your major autosomal percentages.

So what I see back home is that these not so good looking guys chase after good looking girls like crazy and marry them and ruin the great blood lines, happened to my wifes sisters and I feel bad as, if they had married equally good looking partners they would have incredibly good looking children. Just the beautiful Kashmiri gene got messed up so bad. The sad thing is they pursue them like they are willing to die for them and then don’t even treat them good. The kallu used to beat her sister and his daughters..SMH.

But Kashmiris are tall and broad and have great features also. Many are just gorgeous. In every single case these guys were rejected dozens of times but wouldn’t take no for an answer and just persisted they convinced them that they might not be the best looking but their love is unmatched and then they slap them around after marriage.
