Are they the same or different?
My aunt says that people who get qualifications from Pakistan are only valid for in Pakistan and not recognised by major universities in the UK nor by employers as they are different also she mentioned that doctors and nurses require further study and training before being allowed to open a sugery.
Anyone confirm this?

yes.
Comes down to reputations. In Pakistan quite easy to pay and pass. Not the case in most UK institutions. If they do accept your certificate they require hard evidence of achievement in most cases. Or the other way is to pass some exams they set, simple really.

she is halfway right as far as docs having to get Uk qualifications and difference in number of years of education, issue is with bsc and bcom degrees, if u have an engineering degree from UET and NED etc
but otherwise Pakistani degrees are recognized, you can get a bachelors degree from LUMS or IBA and go to UK for masters or US.

I don t agree if u are talking wrt to admission. but I don t know whts the status of degrees from job\s percpective but from admission perspective , they are acceptable.
Recently I have applied in 6 universities for MSc admission.Most of the univeries have accpeptd my degrees and I have got initial offer letter but I have to pay some fee to confirm or reserve my place.
but still a good degree , from a good institute with a good CcGPA is required to get admission.

Since past few years things have been changing in Pakistan. NARICin UK is closely connected to HECin Pakistan. Since 2002 (I am not sure exactly of the year) there are three years & four years bachelor degrees (B.Sc/B.Sc. Honours) available, those degrees are fully accepted as equivalent to UK degree in UK without much problem as far they are recognised by HEC.
The older two years Bachelors from Punjab/Sindh or whatever other universities are actually accepted as HNC in UK.
MBBS from Pakistan is accepted in UK only if PLAB is cleared. Once PLAB is passed no further education from UK is required to be a recognised medical practitioner. Keep in mind if one fails PLAB he can never retake PLAB. Thats why sometimes u see Pakistani Doctors driving TAXIS & busses in UK.
LL.B from Pakistan is accepted as it is, the older two years as well as newer three years course, but an additional one year course is required as well as one has to go through internship process to become Lawyer (Solicitor) in UK.

^Not really relevant to the thread but your info about the PLAB is incorrect, there is no limit on the number of times you can take the exam. Nevertheless, there are some doctors who spend a few years trying to pass the PLAB and end up doing low pay jobs in he meantime.

yes they hold some status but had the idea of coming to pak to study as its £20,000 cheaper, but employers will always cast a skeptical eye having a degree outwith the UK as different imho.

well in plain words, your aunt is wrong in saying that, most of the people from uk has this tendency to say this to their Pakistani relatives. as mentioned above there are some exceptions, with Pakistan 2 year BA/Bsc you need to do 1 or more years in UK uni to get a full BA/Bsc here. you have masters in Pakistan, you are considered equilant to BA/BSc Here.
Najim PLAB has no restrictions, and its only a test to make money and put some check of influx, Post grad doctors from Pakistan are accepted as they are without any PLAB. they guys who even got PLAB, why they are driving taxis- atleast I dont know a single one must be who cant get a job cause of high competition or didnt have the right visa apart from that I dotn think its PLAB reason
