You mean all these love stories are based on romanticism and fantasy. Can literature be created in vacuum?
The land which got caves of Ajanta might have been open society (whether we like it or not).
No, muqa i am not trying to sweep things under the carpet. what i am telling you is actually happen in rural areas. And I am purposely talking about rural and remote areas because that is the only place where culture and modernization are not merged comopletely.
Writers mostly write what they are supposed to write. they mostly fantasize things and that is how text sell.
i think if his emphasis was only on romance, he didn't have added Quaid e Azam and Fatima Jinah's pics in the package.
He added Quaid e Azam and Fatima Jinah's pics to guard/justify his point. just like secularist use Quaid e Azam speech to prove Pakistan’s foundation on secularism.

but if we consider that painting /pic, just wanted to emphasis on local dresses (setting aside the romanticism depicted), will you agree with him/her?

I don't think it got anything with secularism. Purdah as followed in upper and middle class is not the trait and part and parcel of lower class (who work in fields).
But i dont find the overall message pleasing as it portray the pardah culture as something external and bad. Things could not be decided as right or wrong on the basis of locality.

But dressing does get influence of a locality.. Its weather, etc.
The same reasoning may come out from those as well whose dresses and attires were replaced by foreign cultures.

so what Jinnah is wearing is not Pakistani culture either.
Thats again a good point. Why liberals don’t have issue when western culture, dressing style is followed, but they made it issue when Arab of Middle eastern dressing style is followed. NFP might got answer?
Actually it is a misconception that by following Islam we are being invaded by Arabs culturally. The fact is there were several other things that were part of Arab culture before Islam. And Islam did not regard all those bad things. Just because those things were part of local culture doesn’t mean they are all allowed in Islam.

Do you think that before Islam, local dresses were immodest as per the prevailing concept of modesty in sub-continent's society?
