Pakistani Culture..

Is Pakistani culture enveloped in superstitions?

well , i donot think dat pakistani culture is enveloped in superstitions .It has its own values and as u know culture is defined as behaviour peculiar to human beings together with material objects used.and every culture is being respected by its unique values so pakistani culture is ...
but superstitions are other things and these are present in every culture i can give u example of Roman culture like
-Sweeping a floor when a dinner guest is leaving
-Attending a banquet that has an even number of diners
-Spit on your right shoe before putting it
-Cut your hair on the 17th and 29th of a month to prevent headaches and baldness
-A bride touches a doorpost with pig fat upon entering her new home

so u can't say that superstitions are only in pakistani culture and these are not part of culture these are self created.

I agree with nikii here

Pakistani culture is not enveloped in superstitions but its enveloped in Non-Islamic thinking in several areas. I don’t know if you want to call it superstitions but whatever it is its non-islamic.

** Islamic** Republic of Pakistan - i see the first word there is just for decoration in Government Offices. In other places that word has left no meaning.

Just because Pakistan is a “muslim” country, you can’t really say that all of the things that take place in the country are islamic.

The worst thing superstition wise is that starnge believe in pirs.

Shhhhhhhhh -

If our Pir Sahib hears it - to shamat aa ja-ay gee.

Keep Fraudia out.

Najim

dude I am against those lame ass village con artist Pirs. Th real Sufi Pirs are hard to come by. Be glad that you have one..

So why do people in Pakistani society go and see these Pirs? Have they lost faith in God altogether?

why would you see someone who knows more than you do? People go to scholars in every religion all the time to discuss issues ask for guidance etc.

These jaali pirs have a strange personna of a witch doctor, shaman, saint and leader. They appeal mostly to superstitious people which we have a great share of. whether is real jahil or parrhay likhay jaahil..these jaali pirs are in business due to these ppl.

the tele-evangelists here are no more different than the Pirs and have a similar following.

I think what Nia meant was that some of the things which happen in our country are unislamic and that they shouldn't be happening due to it being a Muslim country.
