I just want the views from other members that
what changes occur in the pakistani culture in the last fifty years? Also what can we predict for the other fifty years?

what changes need to be made to our traditional methods of social conditioning so that one may say that we are going somewhere.
Leaving religion alone for the time being, let's consider just the social aspect of an individual's upbringing. Any thoughts, suggestions, advice ?

Qaumoon kee soch to buraee say achaee main badalnay main umrain lagteen hain. When Zia-ul-Haq got hold of the government of Pakistan, I was about six/seven years old, 1976/77, and I was not in Pakistan. I went to pakistan in 1986.
Before I start this discussion, I think I better explain the past of Pakistani people as well. Before 1969, when Ayyub Khan was the President of Pakistan, the Pakistani people were living in three major catagories
1)Upper Class
2)Middle Class
3)Lower Class
Majority of Pakistanis were Middle Class. Bars and Clubs were common, but very few people used to drink. There was no such thing called SHOW OFFs. Lower & Middle Classes were happy with their life styles. Only Upper Class wanted to get more and more money. but in those days, there was a balance, people used to take care of each other and others problem was considered to be owns problem. The 1965 War is the best example of Khaloos of people and care for nation. In 1971, Mr Bhutton came, I think he was one of genius people of that time but Evil Genius, I should say. I liked him and still like him. He gave a new idea of independency. I think (though I am not sure) he wanted the communism in the country. He gave a new moto of, Rotee Kapda aur Makan, work for yourself why do you work for Upper class and they are sucking your blood etc etc. This moto erased all the khaloos from the heart of people. Butto kicked Mujeeb out of pakistani politics and India took a great advantage of the moment and sent Muktee Bahnee in East Pakistan to intice people to declare an Independence. Then in 1974 his policy of devaluating the Pakistani rupee for 140% ruined the economy of Pakistan. One dollar was almost equal to 3 rupees jumped straight to 9.60 rupees. There was no balance in Export and Import of the country and Country started going down and down financially. Rather making it an Ideal State mis-management of Bhutto Government put the country in dangerous situation. If you read the history of Nusrat Bhutto case against the Government of Zia-ul-Haq, you will see what facts were presented. It was in the history of legal legend that a Martial-Law was considered necessary and authorized by the Supreme Court of Pakistan for the salvation of country. That era of 1970-1977, changed the mind of our nation. People started to think about themselves and not about the fellow citizens of the country. Show Off started. People left Pakistan and went to Middle East to earn more and the people who couldn't go they started earning through illegal sources. Money became God of Pakistani nation, and that "silsala" is still going on.
Now I come back to the point of Zia-ul-Haq, I think he was the most powerful man in the political history of pakistan, as being President of the country and simultenously Chief of the Army Staff, a General. If he wanted he could reform the country and make it an Ideal state because there was no one to stop him, but served the country like a "Jhuddu" and didn't make any good of his rulership. But awarded pakistan with Benazir and Nawaz Sharif. I am not sure what they both are doing, didn't do anything good for the people living in the country. Both asked the Pakistanis living outside Pakistan to send Foreign exchange to Pakistan. I wonder if they need money then why are they saving their money in Swiss Banks and why are they buying millions of Pounds property in UK and US, why dont they take first step and take their money in Pakistan to save the country. Indirectly I want to say that we need a ruler a leader who can change the minds of People of Pakistan.
People living in Pakistan are feeling themselves insecure and they think that there is only one thing that can save them in bad times and that is money. I dont know why people want to show other people that they are superior to them because they have more money. But we need to change this type of thinking. Anyway ... it might take an age but if Pakistan is going in Gutter let it go in Gutten becuase the next phase will be sewerage. After the Sewer it gonna be in a River and then it will be cleaned. I am sure there will be a leader, we might not be able to see him be there will be one who will clean the country from all these deseases, OR, I dont want to say it but ... I want warn you all that there might not a Pakistan but you might see more than two countries on the map of earth in the Region of pakistan in couple of decades.
adding to that last paragraph.. is it also not possible that instead of seeing many countries on the map, or the 2 countries that dominate the map namely india and pakistan, we would be left with one...unity is strength :)once there si breakdown.. its just easier for aggressors to chomp on it lil bit by lil bit...
Not that i belive either of the 2 situatiosn will happen, i just wanted to get your impressions on this other theory i have been hearing.
