Being acerbic and caustic I may ask you that when did we act like a nation?, yes indeed, Pakistani people have a strong culture that reflects their geographical location, their social values, their ethical integrity or otherwise , a culture by and large of a semi tribal society but unfortunately not cohesive enough to be called "national". If that is what you mean, I can write a lot.
And, if by "national" you mean the culture of ruling clique or our collective image in the eyes world, I would really have to think.
Re: Pakistani culture - any defining factors??
Pakistan and Isreal two countries created purley for religon, both with long standing issues. Conclusion, religion isn't enough to bind people in one nation. Arabs are united by langague, Persians by long standing culture, Indonesians, by their acceptance of diversity...Pakistanis have nothing to bind them except their desire to be the torch baerers for Islam, but in they they are only used and abused by the powers that be.
^ I consider this a very well-thoughtout conclusion

Seems to be pretty inspired by the ideology of " nation state", just to clarify, both these countries are considered to be created on the basis of an ideology, not "pure religion". One popular fallacy is that culture is something beyond religion, in fact it is not, our religion is DEEN which encircles every walk of life, culture being one aspect of it. True Islamic values can serve as a force behind the idea of global fraternity or on a much smaller scale in shaping a "nation state".
