Pakistani Captain

I guess that is the tragedy and irony of being Wasim and Waqar. You don't get compared to a Donald or a Walsh; you get compared to yourself. And you will nearly always fall short or just measure up. IF you fall short, you're finished - dead weight. If you manage to turn back time, then you're only doing what you've done in the past, so no big deal.

As the author said in the Sami's balls of fire article, if Sami and Shobby can partner and be fractionally as effective as the W's, the Pak team is going places.

No matter what the outcomes were, Wasim and Waqar are no doubt the greatest bowlers ever.

True, let’s not forget Imran as well, their mentor. :k:

to be honest i think wasim has done a lot of **** to pakistani team! till 1994 i luved him so much and i think the only reason i got to watch so much of cricket was bcz of this guy’s presence in the team. but then all of sudden he showed his corrupt class and totally proved that he is the next bit!h who would ruin the pakistani cricket!!

  1. pulling out his name from the 1996 quarter final. god knows why was that? it was very likely that he fixed the match/ took money for not playing that game.

  2. He treated Waqar younis like **** from 96-99. He took away some of his prime years of his career. This guy has 418 wickets i guess and played a lot less matches than stupid wasim! so he totally f’ed up Waqar’s career and made sure he doesnet goes past his record.

  3. Wasim again porved himself that he is an real a$$hole. He treated the Legend Javed Miandad like crap and pulled him out of the team on many occasions. He made him field on the toughest spots during the 1996 quarter final knowingly that the guy is so old and he has not much left in him but regardless this didnt matter to the superstar wasim bhai and totally insulted this legend who has been the biggest match winner for pakistani team. i still regard him as one of the finest in pakistani cricket and would rate him over akram, imran or anyone else!

  4. Another big loss for Pakistani cricket was the final of 1999. He again f’ed us up big time. During the World Cup losing againt minnows like Bangladesh and then even India seemed a little odd. Lastly, in the final he once again showed his corrupt class and let the whole nation down for tons of piece of papers!

i am not against wasim and i honestly feel very sad that player of his class had let the nation down so many times. He may be a good bowler, he may have won matches for us but at the end of the day after seeing what he has done to pakistani cricket i totally hate to say but this guy must get punished for what he has done.

He was a hero, he was the greatest bowler in the world, he was the one of the finest to watch on the ground, and he was one of the most luved palyers in the cricket history but sadly to say he has no place left in my heart and i just feel sad to say that i totally hate him and i certainly have no respect left for him.

This is my opinion of this guy who i thought of as one of the best but things didnt go as they were suppose to! you dont have to agree with me but i am just telling you how i feel.

no harm was intended!

wasim bhai you let us down big time :nook:

how did Wasim manage to do that when he wasn't even on the field?

dude get your facts straight, it was Aamir Sohail who was disrespectful to Miandad in the 96 QF and if I remember he was fielding at third man? And that certainly is not the most challenging position on the field. People actually said that Aamir Sohail hid Miandad there so that he wouldn't interfere with the decision making.

I do agree with a VERY toned down version of your post though.

its not just that game even games where wasim was the captain and was playing along javed he really insulted him on/off the field.

Amir was the captain and it was very obvious from wasim's previous behavior towards javed that whatever amir did was bcz of wasim's wishes!

i dont think amir had the guts to execute such offensive behavior towards a legend without wasim's help!

A Captain is as good/bad as his team. Except Waqar most other captains had Players like Javed Miandad, Wasim Akram, Salim Malik etc in their teams.

Waqar had no one like them, still he has better record than most of the captains proves a lot. He had an out of Control Shoaib Akhtar who only knows how to bowl fast, He also had an out of Form & Out of Shape (skinny) Inzamam. He had players like Youhana, Akram etc who were not very supportive of him. Despite of that he has the best captaincy record and that makes him even better.

lol another waqar fan!! im with u  :k:

For once I agree, Waqar accomplished alot during the reign of his captaincy.
Remember he led Pakistan to a victory in Australia let it be a small useless 3 ODI series but beating Australia in Australia is a tough task, only the latter part of his captaincy when $hit started to happen.
And after all the inside the locker room rifts, Waqar completely lost the control over the players, and thus started making decisions which he shouldn't be proud of.
I still think had PCB had given him a fresh start with a new look team like the current one, Waqar could have ragained his confidence.

PCB did and he made an absolute hash of it in Sharjah against Australia.

As a bowler he is one of the top in the world. As a captain, well the less said the better.

Rehan; Wasim Akram was , is and is going to be the best always . Mark my words.

  1. Everyone close to the game knew Wasim was injured long before and that match could have been won , what Waqar Younis did ? Going for lots of sixes from Jadeja ?

  2. Waqar Younis had a clear slump in his form , remember the series of India ? New comers of India played him like a kid is bowling to them. He was trashed all around the ground. Then Shoaib was given the oppurtunity and he proved his worth then it was after long time when Waqar made a return in Sharjah where he bowled really well whereas everyone knows he was clearly not in rhthum before that .

3.You are an a$$ hole yourself who is saying earlier he pulled out of the quarter final and then you are saying he treated him badly.Lol.

4.He was just the captain and he himself performed so wonderfully in the whole world cup.Just see the facts . His players didn't play that well . They scored just 132 now who can defend it ?

Don't hurt others who love the game just because of this great living legend. There is no doubt about Wasim's class , he should have been Gawd in Pakistan like what Sachin is in India . As Wasim has won us much more matches than Sachin has. So it is my request to everyone that a great like Wasim Akram should not be insulted that way .

Whoever you are Mr. You totally sound immature and certainly need to deference other’s opinion regardless of what you think and act!

If you noticed that at the end of my post I clearly stated that these are my thoughts/opinion and there is absolutely no harm intended towards Wasim’s fans/admirers but it seems like you are extremely nonsensical and brainless when it comes down to respond in a proper manner.

I would advise you to respond according to the post’s nature and the purpose that was suppose to be served. Instead, you showed your infantile behavior by using foul language. Obviously, by disrespecting someone’s beliefs won’t serve you any good.

If you want to consider him as God please go ahead and I would certainly respect your judgment. Now, if you still think that you have some brains left in you then please start to behave appropriately. You always gain respect by showing some compassion towards others rather than being disrespectful and calling them names.

I disagree, if a player is out of form, does that mean he should be dropped for 3 years?
Than we should drop Inzi for 3 years so he can comeback and score big.
Though personally I don't have anything against Wasim but he ruined the lives of alot of players in the team and one of them is Waqar.
And what did Waqar gave him in return, he brought him back into the team and made him the star player like he used to be.
There was an even talk of Wasim retiring when he broke his shin during a test match in Dhaka against Bangladesh but Waqar urged him to stay for a longer, and we all know what happend next.

Re: Pakistani Captain

I dunno if just looking at the percentages does justice to the capabilities of a captain. You should also look at number of matches the person has captained and then weigh that in also. Besides Wasim and Imran, no one else has crossed the 100 match mark. And 6 of the remaining 8 haven't even crossed the 50 match mark. So to me, the numbers are a bit skewed thanks to a low denominator. Something to consider while deciding who'se a better captain.

Granted that some of captains have been victims of politics within PCB, but to be able to keep a long tenure as captain shows ablility to work in a 'hostile" environment. Its a must have for captain and shows resolve and political saviness..

when most of the time Wasim has been appointed the captain was because he was the only candidate, he even captained his teams as early as in 93.

Rehaan I am sorry for what I said . Actually I got emotional because I think Wasim Akram doesn;t deserve what he is getting from the board. He was in prime form in the world cup and yet he is dropped.Everyone knows how good he is as a captain as well.Anyways I apologise for all what I said , hope you will forgive me and iwll be more selective with tour words when u will be discussing National heros.

its all good undefined.. i was just trying to make a point here..i think it kinda worked lol...thanx for being understandable :)
