In Pakistan, there are sweet buns (kinda yellowish) that you can dip into tea for breakfast. I have never seen similar buns anywhere else. There are sticky buns here (a Philadelphia chain) that are pretty tasty but I still think buns in Pakistan are much tastier.

When I was about five years old I visited Pakistan and went to see my Mums grand DAD in a village near Sialkoat or rather Duska I should say. He was a Land Lord and in the break fast I saw a plougher eating kulcha with tea and asked him that I want to have the same, initially he refused but then agreed when I insisted. He sent me to the "Kulcha shop" (I dont know what that shop is called in Urdu) with a servant (Mazara'a) and I saw for the first time how a Naan or a Kulcha is baked. I still remember the taste of that kulcha with tea in the early morning. I tried the kulcha with tea again but it never tasted like that, unfortunately I never visited that village again because he died and I never got a chance to visit that place again. I remember in those days I did eat those buns as well and I remember them though I did try to remember the name of the company but couldn't refresh my mind. Now u can have Dawn bread (buns) there in Pakistan or shezan bakers bread (buns) they taste good but not like that kulcha.

No, no, KashmiriGirlG, "buns" definitely implies something soft, and raas or rusk, are hard, baked things one dips into chai. Kulcha's are namkin, so I'm not too sure what the above-mentioned buns refers to. Ah, the memories of dahin-kulcha nashtas :)
Within Pakistani buns, BP buns are the best!

i have lived in pakistan till i was 13 and near my house there was bakerey called kamrann baker ......aahhhh they use to make excellent naan and other bakery stuff i remember every friday we use to eat there kulcha's with near by chana shop ......if u go pak land try kulcha channa they are delicious and i mean delicious.

Buns were good... What about papay and "zeeray key biscuit"??..papay with blue blend margarine used to be the best....
NYAHMADI : Try Mrs Baird's potatoe buns. They are not the same but come very close.
Put some makkhan(land O'lakes - unsalted), sprinkle sugar on it and have it with tea in the evening.

NYAhmadi, One reason for their superior taste could be that Pakistani buns (well most of them) come in air tight packing. And you know that air spoils everything! They are not exposed to germs or any other substances that can cause physical damage, so they always retain their freshness and taste!@!
I’d also like to point out that RUS or (RUSK) are also a kind of bun, except that they become harder because of prolong cooking and a slight difference in ingredients. Enjoying RUSK requires a person to have stronger teeth and usually taste better when served with something hot, like tea
However, we should keep in mind that the honey buns here are not too bad either,
though still not as good as pakistani buns.
Aaah! those buns shaped like the heart - succulent, soft & tempting.
