There was a study done on Britsih Pakistanis by a man called Jacobsen and he spoke about how Pakistanis however westernised they maybe they still see Islam as their main form of identity.
Hindu's and Sikhs are generally more conformist then the pakistanis are and are more accepted in society than the Muslims are.
The head of the BNP a racist British group against immigration wenton a well known British program during the race riots and spoke about the problems being a Muslim one and how he had no problems with Sikhs or Hindus but just the Muslims.
He has had meetings with Sikh and Hindu leaders to work on getting rid of the Muslims.
If someone was to look down in Est London there are plentiful problems involviong mainly the Bengalis.
Britains immigration policy is strict especially with Muslims. Britian is seen as an enemy with what was done with afghnistan amongst other things so the Asian Muslims feel no need to obey the British.
Before some one asks about Arabs the Arab community in Britain is very small in comparison with the Asian community.

Sorry, but you make it sound like Pakistanis don’t have any future here in Britain and all of them are forming their own gangs and as if the parents are unable to control their kids. I think the main problem people have is, that they are very quick to generalize. I admit that there are Pakistani parents who are unable to control their kids as their children are influenced largely by the crowds they “hang out” with. There are problems in the North of England, places like Oldham, but aren’t there these kind of kids every where? Don’t tell me ALL Pakistani kids, teenagers are like angels. Of course, they are not; they are not all angels in Pakistan either. It all depends on the up bringing of the child and their environment. I’ve heard from Pakistanis about these “black” gangs you mentioned, and they told me that there are many of the Pakistanis, who are in these gangs and into drugs and stuff. Like I said it depends on the sort of neighbor hood. There’s truth in some of the stuff you said, but people should avoid just generalizing, there is always more than one side to the argument.

Well said Bismah

, I think its far too easy for people to make generalisations after reading one sided reports in the media.

High unmeployment as well as social deprivation of the inner cities has adverse effects on ALL communities, this is more prevalent in Northern parts of the UK. Many of the migrants that went to these areas in the 60’s and 70’s worked in the textile industries which were flourishing at the time. This industry has largely been shut down now due to economic factors with cheaper textiles now imported from Asia and the Far East. The younger generations that have grown up in these areas have higher jobless rates than the other communities, it is these Pakistanis that are more likely to be members of gangs etc.. but in no way can one generalise against all the youngsters, even in these deprived areas some are successful education and career wise.
