PTV CricketPakistani bowling legends through time, a blend of talent
Pakistan is a rich land when it comes to breeding fast bowlers. The world have seen many big names in the fast bowling department that all hailed from different parts of this country.
Some of the places were famous and some of them were quite unknown to the public yet all the bowlers dominated the big stage and made a mark of the history of cricket.
We star with the first lethal fast bowler that shined Pakistan’s name in the international cricket Fazal Mahmood. Fazal played 34 tests in his international career and took 139 wickets with an average of 24.70. His best figures were 7/42 in an innings and 13/114 in the match.
Fazal was the inspiration that lead Pakistan into the famous win against England in England. Pakistan’s name got recognizable after that magnificent win.
The next in the line is Abdul Qadir the first spin sensation from Pakistan. Qadir was a leg spinner and had all the variations needed to be one. He was found by Imran Khan and Qadir groomed a lot under Imran’s captaincy.
Qadir played 67 test matches and took 236 wickets in it with an average of 32.80. He also played 104 ODIs and took 132 wickets with an average of 26.16.
After Qadir the next name is of Mushtaq Ahmad. Mushtaq as his team mates call him Mushi took part in 52 tests and took 185 wickets with an average 32.97. He played 144 ODIs and bagged 161 wickets with an average 33.29.
Mushi was the sensation that lead Pakistan wins the 1992 world cup. Imran used him as a strike bowler and Mushi always delivered for his captain and team.
When it comes to the fast bowling again three names ruled on the top. The first is none other than the Lion of Lahore the great Imran Khan. Imran started his career in the early 70s and after a lame start was given a break.
Later his luck and ability both stood up for him and Imran made his way back to the International arena and since that day the world saw Imran as a different kind of player.
Imran is one of those unique bowlers that changed their whole run up and bowling action and became successful with it.
Imran was the best Pakistani captain in both forms of the international cricket. He was one of the best all rounder as well. He was of attacking nature with his cricketing abilities.
Imran is also the one who mentored Wasim Akram, Waqar Younas, Inzamaam Ul Haq, Mushtaq Ahmad, Abdul Qadir and many others.
The world’s best fast bowling pair Wasim and Waqar were the findings of Imran Khan and both gave the credit to Imran for the fame they earned.
Wasim and Waqar were deadly and always hunted in pair. Waqar unfortunately had injury issues and lacked behind Wasim in total matches played but yet he was as good as Wasim.
Wasim is called as the world’s best left arm fast bowler in the history of cricket. He was best with his swing and other variations. Wasim had the ability to give a break through at any stage of the game.
