5-Afridi
6-Inzi
7-Razzaq
8-Rashid
9-Wasim

I think this wud be the strongest line up to go with for the WC because it gives us a very important 6 bowler.
Afridi as an opener…i don’t know:disgust: opening should last at least 15-20 overs. this guy can’t stany on crease for that long.
Just like the batting Pakistani bowling is also very unpredictable, some days they can destroy a team like Australia for 137 or 167 or the next day they can giveaway 330 runs in the first wicket partnership to Gibbs and Smith.
My point is that one of our fast bowlers can have a bad day, specially Shoaib, so we should have a 6th bowler which is a must for the WC and Afridi has been consistently taking wickets against the big sides, but if thats the option then one of the 2 batsman must go from the team, Younis Khan or Elahi/Taufeeq, which is a big gamble concerning Pakistan's weakness in batting.
Younis Khan has occaisionally played decent innings, Elahi and Taufeeq are weak batsman, I am still ridiculed of the thought of why was Taufeeq Umar picked above Imran Nazir or Faisal Iqbal, only because he had a good experience in the test series. Out of the 2 I will pick Elahi over Taufeeq anyday. But seeing that Pakistan desperatly needs a sixth bowler than Afridi gets the pick to open the batting lineup with Saeed if he is in good form.
Yousuf Youhana who is without any doubt the best batsman in the team should come in as number 3. He rarely throws his wickets away and is one of those players who needs time settling down before being in good form. Abdul Razzaq looks like another liability in the batting department, if his performance does not improve than Azahr Mahmood should get the spot, he is a very good history playing in South Africa and just being able to score 2 centuries in his first 2 test in SA shows that he is good on fast pitches.
Saeed Anwar
Shahid Afridi
Yousuf Youhana
Inzimam ul Haq
Younis Khan
Abdul Razzaq
Wasim Akram
Rashid Latif
Waqar Younis
Saqlain Mushtaq
Shoaib Akhtar
saeed
afridi
younis
youhana
inzamam
abdul razzaq
rashid
wasim
saqlain
waqar
shoaib
i hate to play afridi, but we need a 6th bowler. if we can get in some gd performances from our bowlers then perhaps we shd go in with either saleem or taufiq
Use Taufeeq as a keeper and we have 8 batsmen and 6 bowlers.
Saeed
Afridi
Youhanna
Inzi
Younis
Azhar
Latif
Akram
Waqar
Saqlain
Shoaib
Good point ehsan, Toufeeq should be able to handle one day keeping, just that he might be too tired to open the innings, if Pak bat second. Saeed i am not so sure of, he lacks confidence, i dont want to see him as another Miandad in 96 worldcup.
UMAIR316......i saw Toufeeq bat in the tests against SA, he has tons of concentration and can attack any bowler, some of the off drives off paulock and ntini were awsome, coming from a young player.
1-Toufeeq/saeed
2-Salim
3-inzi
4-Youhana
5-younus
6-faisal/azhar
7-razaq
8-afridi
9- wasim
10-waqar
11-shoaib
no speacialist spinner or weeketkeeper,
Taufeeq is an attacking in test form, the field placings are much different from one day, Pollock had too many slips in for Taufeeq and he took the advantage and played some beatiful shots on the cover drive. In test matches the fielding placement are much different and in specially the first 15 overs you need to be able to hit over the top which he isn't so good at.
As far as the wicketkeeping is concern, Younis Khan kept wickets for Pakistan on the tour of NZ when Moin was injured and he did a preety decent job. But it would be suicide to bring in Taufeeq or even Younis Khan to keep when Shoaib bowls 95+ on pitches of South Africa.
Some people might say well Dravid is doing a decent job, all I have to say to them is there is a miles of difference between Shoaib, Waqar, Wasim, Saqlain, than Srinath, Zaheer, Nehara, Singh.
Rashid Latif should keep wickets.

i think Azhar shud be part of that 11.....hes done well on SA pitches and he did well in that tour match too!
Saleem Elahi
Shahid Afridi
Yousuf Youhanna
Inzamam ul Haq
Younis Khan
Abdul Razzaq
Azhar Mehmood
Rashid Latif
Wasim Akram
Waqar Younis
Shoaib Akhtar
Looks like a pretty good side. Cnsidering the form of Saeed, and Saqlains performance in SA...they could be both left out. And Shahid Afridi and Azhar Mehmood, both having limited batting capabilities...plus ablilty to pick up crucial wickets, should be included in the side. Saleem Elahi, although, hate the guy...he's been in the team for a while now and seems to be in form, and its highly likely Waqar's gonna play him for the first match.
This way we have 3 quickies, 4 specialist batsmen, and three allrounders + wk.
Seems like a pretty formidable side.

I think we'll need a specialist keeper, we can't afford to rely on a stand-in.
