Pakistani-American to participate in 'Mrs World 2007' contest

Re: Pakistani-American to participate in 'Mrs World 2007' contest

She looks like an average pakistani girl. Personally I think these half hearted beauty contest entries by Pakis are stupid. Every average gal wants to hit the big stage, and in a country where it's frowned upon, the real beauties probably havent heard of or dont care about this sort of stuff. It's always some overweight, mother that seems to hit the spotlight. At least it's possible to say she is representative of what a Pakistani girl looks like. Unlike Miss Indias that have their own hand picked and reared schools, successive facial and body surgery clinics, and who look nothing like 98% of the Indian population. Should be some sort of official standard level of beauty for these Paki models that take part in the beauty contests. Someone shoot Pakistan's PR officer please. But you go gals!

Re: Pakistani-American to participate in ‘Mrs World 2007’ contest

If you dont like it, don’t watch it. At the very leasy lower your gaze Mr Extremist.

Re: Pakistani-American to participate in ‘Mrs World 2007’ contest

Ok, so first it was she is ugly for the competition than why is she representing Pakistan without “my” consent  now it is women are not as pathetic as I think…? :hehe:

You guys remind me of people who go to cinema to watch movies and just before the movie when there are teasers, they play the “critic” role. Like after watching 2 mins of clip…“this is going to be good”…“what a pathetic movie”…

I mean have you met her personally to make judgments?

Re: Pakistani-American to participate in ‘Mrs World 2007’ contest

Nope. Don’t want to. Wanna look wherever I want without being interrupted by such sights.

She wants to dress like a street walker, let her do it in private with hubby and kid. Howzzat?

In any case, she’s the extremist here…I’m simply parroting established values.:snooty:

Re: Pakistani-American to participate in ‘Mrs World 2007’ contest

Don’t think you’ve been paying attention…

Nope…don’t have to.

Re: Pakistani-American to participate in 'Mrs World 2007' contest

here we go again

Re: Pakistani-American to participate in 'Mrs World 2007' contest

i dont see how she is forcing her ideals on to anyone. The USA doesnt toot a horn of religion when it comes to such matters...yet this country has women in all fields, leaders/beauty pageant winners/artists etc...and a great number of women find pageants to be quite silly.
pakistanis seriously have this "dunya kya kahay gee" mentality as a nation. its no secret that drinking, gambling, heera mandi etc are part of our society. The problem seems to be just that she has made her nationality public.
im not saying whether its right or wrong of her to claim so....but the thing is that its usually better to check our own backyard before claiming such things.

are you going to also scream to the world that the belly-button baring drama actresses do not represent pakistan?
are u going to scream to the world that heera mandi does not represent pakistan? ARYtv, INdus TV?
are u also going to tell them that our (in) famous meeras/reemas/reshams are not representative of pakistan? how about our moderately-enlightened president (who loves rock-band junoon), are u going to tell everyone that the crowd at purplehaze sheesha joint does not represent pakistan? how about the "burgers"? the panchayats that support honor-killings?

Re: Pakistani-American to participate in 'Mrs World 2007' contest

shweetz...well said!

u folks should check out the Sunday Daily Times......and this stuff is happening IN pakistan.....where are the molvis shooting them in the head?

Re: Pakistani-American to participate in 'Mrs World 2007' contest

Everything decent or indecent has started to represent Pakistan now as long as it is widely accepted phenomenon in the world communities. Comparing Oranges with Apples too..

Re: Pakistani-American to participate in ‘Mrs World 2007’ contest

I see. Let’s get some things in perspective now.

You have a remote, a TV and a TV guide. You read TV guide, you see Sesame Street on Channel 1, the News on Channel 2, Beauty Contest on Channel 3, porn on Channel 4, Cartoon on Channel 5 etc. You now have a choice. Some people will want to watch channel 1, some people will want to watch channel 2, some people, channel 3 (the beauty contest), some people even channel 4 and some peeps channel 5. This is where choice is catered for in any democratic society. Just because you have 1 philosophy or interpretation, it does not mean everyone else must follow it. As a Muslim, and not as an extremist, you should know men (and women) are required to lower their gaze when they see something immodest. The equivalent in my TV example is don’t turn on Channel 3, you watch channel 2. This is actually what Islam is about, and it’s not your extremist interpretation of lobbing off a head or two until you get your own childish way.

Re: Pakistani-American to participate in 'Mrs World 2007' contest

Pakistan is actually quite a progressive country outside of the redneck areas.

Re: Pakistani-American to participate in ‘Mrs World 2007’ contest

since my views have not changed since the previous times this topic has come up, I am just going to link them and paste em again.

there is no issue with her being a pakistani.. but I am still questioning how she was picked to be miss pakistan and not rukhsana in Faisalabad who would have wanted to take part in it too.

what was the process..

could someone else decide to represent pakistan too? there cant be multiple contestants…right…only one per country, so how was this one picked..

there is no religious or cultural spin involved here… the simple question..how did she get picked..

I explained the process for miss america as I understand it…the best contestant wins..starting from a pool of contestants ranging in tens of thousands to one..

like china’s table tennis champ…there is a process where teh champion emerges..anyone can try to take a part in that process but at each level the better contestants would move up..weaker ones get eliminated..till there is one..and he is atrue champ. can call himself the table tennis champion of china and represent china in the world championships…

versus if some chinese guy somehow appoints himself as china’s yoyo champ… is he reallya champ…who did he compete with…was there a process in place that qualified and eliminated weaker contestants until the best one emerged.

I dont see that here..
http://www.paklinks.com/gs/showthread.php?p=1988087&highlight=champion#post1988087

If pakistan had a beauty pageant..fine.. but it does not. and I am tired of seeing chicas crawlign out of the woodwork and representing Pakistan in an event..

I dont have an issue with a pageant, heck if ppl want to do it, let them do it..

but the issue is with self declared representatives…I am confused as to how they pick the miss pakistan or afghanistan.. I dont know of a fair system which has local-regional-national competition to pick a winner..somehow one person is just picked…

and if without having a proper process where everyone has the opportunity to try for it if they want to..and without a group that oversees that it is so…these chicas as not real miss pakistan or miss afghanistan..

If I want to be in some country’s ski team and Pakistan does not have one..should I just appoint myself as Pakistan’s ski champ and start showing up at championships, or if i really want it so bad, i move somewhere where I can really show ehetehr i can be part of a national team or be a national representative.

How were these chicas picked, who picked them, and could some girl in karachi, or multan or pindi have competed in it..

all i know is that I knew ms lawrence in kansas and she went to ms kansas competition, had she won she would have gont o represent kansas in miss america, and had she won there would represent us as miss america in miss world event…but she did not..someone else won in kansas, who did not win miss america..and the girl who won miss america went on to compete in miss world..

Re: Pakistani-American to participate in 'Mrs World 2007' contest

..as I have stated before

I am the reigning champion of speed skating in Pakistan.
I am also the ski champion
surf champion and all global sports that do not have an official governing body in Pakistan. jai alai, street luge,.. etc etc

here I have claimed all those titles. again.

Re: Pakistani-American to participate in 'Mrs World 2007' contest

She's in no position to. Those that endorse her, may well. Allowing such things to be associated with Pakistan in an official capacity is forced...like it or not.

She also made it clear that she wants to be a "role model" for Pakistanis. Such a stance invites a counter response to those who are disgusted by her.

pakistanis seriously have this "dunya kya kahay gee" mentality as a nation. its no secret that drinking, gambling, heera mandi etc are part of our society.
Part of it...but not sanctioned. Nor is it taken as a matter of pride. As for thinking of what the world would think...I'd say the guilty party are those who support her...

As for all the rest of the stuff that goes on in Pakistan...really, if we want to conflate issues...everything can be written of as a stupid complaint because of some other more pressing problem that's "worse". So I shouldn't compalin about corruption because of gang rapes...woops, can't complain about rapes because of honor killings...and so on...

And let's be honest...what if there was hue and cry over the stuff going on in Pakistan to the extent that a crack down was going to happen...what would the reaction of those who support this kind of stuff be? "Oh well..at least Pakistanis are being consistent", OR "damn mullahs are going ape on us"....
The problem seems to be just that she has made her nationality public.
im not saying whether its right or wrong of her to claim so....but the thing is that its usually better to check our own backyard before claiming such things.
Hey, she's the one jumping into the backyard...nobody forced her to take the title of Ms. Pakistan...

Re: Pakistani-American to participate in ‘Mrs World 2007’ contest

Miss M_M what do you think these competitions are? They JUDGE women and these women WANT to be judged. Now the only thing is we are saying shes ugly they will put a number on her, possibly a 3 or a 2.

I find these pagents to be EXTREMELY degrading and i have no respect for women who run for these.

And I am the jawbreaker champion :cb:

And I also agree with Fraudia if we are DYING to be in this contest and we have nothing better in our lives then to walk around stage pretending like we are smart then hey lets have a proper contest so atleast every airi gairi butt ugly girl doesnt start represnting pakistan.

Re: Pakistani-American to participate in ‘Mrs World 2007’ contest

Street luge is MY title…

I’m callin you out…:naraz:

Re: Pakistani-American to participate in ‘Mrs World 2007’ contest

WOW! mother of three … doesn’t look like :k:

Nice body …

Re: Pakistani-American to participate in 'Mrs World 2007' contest

Not a good example; I don't have a remote on the bus...I don't have a remote that will control the billboard...or the people walking on the street.

These are very much public things; and personal choices done in a public setting are...you guessed it...public.

An international competition...very much puiblic.

Re: Pakistani-American to participate in 'Mrs World 2007' contest

They judge men every year in the Mr Pakistan contest too.

Re: Pakistani-American to participate in 'Mrs World 2007' contest

you cant see international competitions from a bus.
