Its not about being Pardesi or being Mohajir. Its about owning your country. For me Pakistan is everything. Its my identity wherever I live.

So much so that even though it's current halaat are deplorable...I would still love to go back there any moment.
A land my forefathers struggled for, sacrificed for, and loved...and a land that is increasingly becoming distanced and estranged to me and most likely will be a stranger to my kids.

A land where a copy of the Quran costs 650 rupees. But in any case i came closer to Islam in Pakistan. :) A very spiritual place indeed.

Even though our family left Lahore in 1920's when it was still India, as a family we have never been back, but Pakistan means everything to us as a family. We identify by it. Pakistan is my land, my country and with all its fault I love it.

To me, Pakistan is:
where my grandparents started a new life after losing all they had in Mother India
where parents fell in love and got married
....and then left to start there life in a foreign land far away
where i spent my summers sneaking up to the rooftops with my cousins enjoying "cold coffee" at ungodly hours of the night
where my husband grew up, and where my in laws call home, thus allowing me to continue my love affair with all things "Karachi"
where my father returned to settle, after 30+ yrs of living in the US.....
and.......where my father took his last breaths and was layed to rest

A country without which international pages of newspaper cannot be completed.
A country with with my family members fought for the longest time.
A country without which bollywood movies are incomplete:D
A country with which we have disagreement on every issue
And only country which is similar to us.

and my pride is not shaken by whats hapenning in my motherland or how the world percieves us ... I'm as proud of being a Pakistani as I was ten years ago.
