SYDNEY, Oct 16: Former Australia captain Allan Border said today that Pakistan would struggle to beat most Sydney club sides and their coach Richard Pybus should keep his mouth shut. Border, reacted strongly to comments made by Pybus and reported in The Australian newspaper, that Australia was battling internal tension over the pressure on Steve and Mark Waugh to hold their places in the team at age 37. “Richard should just concentrate on what he’s supposed to be doing with the Pakistani team,” Border was quoted as saying in Sydney’s Daily Telegraph newspaper today. (Reuters) (Posted @ 10:55 PST)

There is no doubt that pakistan hit an all time low in Sharjah during the second test match.

The question is that if Allan Border is so sure that most Sydney club sides would beat Pakistan, why didnt he isuue his pearls of wisdom after the first test match in Colombo, when at one stage during the second innings he would have been wishing that Australia was playing a Sydney club team instead of the Pakistani team.

Time for Allan Border to grow up and engage his brain before he opens his mouth.

ehsan bhai, I understand where you are coming from, however, Border gave that statement in response to Pybus' earlier statement, which I thought was way off-mark.

Pybus is the coach/Manager of Pakistan team which has just suffered arguably its most serious thrashing in living memory. And to cap it by pointing at a couple of failed opportunities by the most senior Australian players was perhaps asking for it. I'd rather Pybus concentrate on the task at hand, which is to lift Pakistan from this pit to some degree of respectibility at the end of 3rd test. Border is merely a selector and has a lot of free time to indulge in such niceties. Pybus does not. Or should not.

Agreed Pybus should not have made that statement, and I am not defending Pybus at all, infact I think it was a silly statement keeping in mind the state of the team. He should have concentrated on the job in hand. Border didnt need to go overboard either.

Border a typical Aussie cant handle what they do with other teams i.e. war of words :hehe:

Gorey ko Gora takraya hay lets enjoy

Richard Pybus is a doofus. He shouldn't have mad that comment, I don't agree with Border but I can understand his response.
Pybus needs to fix the internal affair in his team first before looking at others.
I like the way Mudassar coached and I wasn't happy when he was sacked because in my mind he was doing a great job, it was the captaincy and management which is the reason of bad performances.
I think Pakistan can do the same and win matches with or without a coach.

What'd Pybus say?

Umair, yeah Mudassar was a good coach but he failed to teach them how to correct their mistakes. For example, he couldnt ask shoaib malik to be more aggressive in his approach and atleast take singles which was Nevr his style himself. Its a pity that somme team members cannot get along with Javed Miandad otherwise he is the best coach Pakistan can have! But after him, i think Pybus is not a bad coach. Well about this comments, Aussies keep doing it again and again even in india when they were losing or in Wesitindies just before the WC99 even when Lara scored a double century against them , steve augh said, he is a fluke player. Well these all are mind games and Pakistnis suck at it! No doubt Pybus is workign on team affairs but its not a bad ploy to keep cmoing at aussies.
Though i reliaze most gupies might not agree but Pybus is not all at fault , look what kind of cheap comments he extracted from border??
Thats Aussie dose given to aussies!!

Australia’s golden era is coming to an end, according to Pakistan coach Richard Pybus.
Steve Waugh’s side has been the dominant force in Test cricket for the past few years and humiliated Pakistan in Sharjah last weekend by bowling them out for 59 and 53.

The Waugh brothers look like they are under a tremendous amount of pressure
But most of the team are now aged over 30 and Pybus believes “all is not well” in the Australian camp.

Waugh and twin brother Mark, in particular, are under pressure to prolong their careers after struggling for runs in the past year.

"The Waugh brothers score in particular areas. If you shut down those areas, it makes life very difficult.

"When you get limited in certain areas, you start to lack trust in your judgment and it becomes a different place out in the middle.

Pybus is trying to lift his players for the final Test

“Combine that with the fact that they are coming towards the end of their careers when a player asks the question - where to from here?” Pybus commented.

Steve Waugh has failed to score in his last two innings, while Mark’s last two contributions have been nought and two.

But Pybus’ comments are likely to intensify Australia’s hunger for victory in the third Test in Sharjah, which starts on Saturday.

“There will be no sympathy in the third Test because we are looking at a clean sweep,” promised Waugh.

Pakistan have summoned all-rounder Shahid Afridi to Sharjah to strengthen their squad after Abdur Razzaq’s wrist was fractured by a ball from Brett Lee during the second Test.

I guess Border was right in giving this kind of reply - Pybus deserved this.

The problem with Pybus's comments are that they came at the wrong time. You can afford to make those sort of comments from a position of strength, but with such a weak and inexperienced team we can't publicly start pointing at the Aussies.

Pybus plays down row with Border ahead of third test

SHARJAH, United Arab Emirates (Reuters) - Pakistan coach Richard Pybus has attempted to defuse the row with former Australia captain Allan Border by insisting his remarks about the Waugh brothers were misinterpreted.

Pybus incurred Border’s wrath by suggesting Australia were battling internal tension as Waugh brothers Steve and Mark attempt to hold down a place in the side at age 37.

His comments were reported in the Australian media and prompted Border, a national team selector, to tell Pybus to concentrate on his own team and to ‘keep his mouth shut’.

But Pybus said on Thursday: "I never meant, in any way, to indulge in any psychological warfare or criticise the Waugh brothers.

“It was an observation and nothing else. It is sad that the remarks have been taken out of context and in a negative manner.”

Pybus’s Pakistan side were all out for 59 and 53 in last week’s second test defeat to Australia in Sharjah, going 2-0 down in the three-match series.

“Let’s see if they can score 60 next time they bat,” Border was quoted as saying by The Australian newspaper on Tuesday.

“Most second grade sides could do better than his national side. If I was him I’d be keeping my mouth shut.”

HIGHEST RESPECT

Pybus added that Border’s remarks about the Pakistan team were unfair.

“I think even he knows very well that we are struggling with injuries and we have a very young and inexperienced team,” he said.

“It is a growing process for us.”

But Pybus explained he had the highest respect for the Waugh brothers and he never meant to attack them in any way.

“I just said the obvious, that every international cricketer faces a time when he is approaching the end of his career – that is all,” he said.

"It was never meant to be a dig at the Australian team.

“I get a feeling that Border’s was an emotional outburst given the way the media in Australia has been raising the issue of the Waugh brothers.”

Pybus said he had his hands full in the middle of a tough series and he had the highest regard for the Australian team as they had been playing some good cricket.

“Look, the future of the Waugh brothers is an issue Australian cricket has to face up to,” he said.

PAKISTAN CHANGES

“My remarks were unfortunately perceived by the media as an intended effort to play mind games before the final test, which is not correct.”

The third test begins on Saturday and Pybus said Pakistan were focusing on the basics.

“We just didn’t play well enough in the second test,” he said.

“The boys are very disappointed that they let the country down and they want to make amends. We are trying to approach the final match with a positive mindset.”

Pybus confirmed there would be some changes to the batting order and further changes to the line-up.

Shahid Afridi is expected to open with Hasan Reza coming into the middle order in place of the struggling Imran Nazir, who has got two ducks in four innings in the series so far.

Afridi’s inclusion also gives Pakistan plenty of spin options, but with captain Waqar Younis struggling with a back problem, the bowling attack might have to be rethought.

Australia are not expecting another weak performance from their opponents.

“No, we don’t think it (Pakistan’s collapse) will happen again,” Australian team manager Steve Barnard said.

“They will regroup and as they showed in the first test, they are capable of doing better.”

So whats the lowest score a team has made in test history or did PAK broke the record?

I kind of agree with Pybus, I don't see any young talent in the Aussie team with the exception of Lee and McGill. Hayden, Langer, Ponting, Waughs, Leahman, Bevan, Gilchrist are entering into ther 30s and that means they will be around 4 to 5 years and you can't guarentee their performance to be top level for that time. But as long as Gilchrist is around Australia will be on top, he is in my mind that batsman in the world, very under rated and a real match winner
