How good are the following with the bat :
Umar Gul
Shabbir,
Danish
and Sami
[/QUOTE]

Depends on who is on the crease with them. Umar Gul is not as much a "bat holder". Sami and Shabbir have shown some batting skills.

i think that's what Inzi is aiming ..... i hope Razzaq does understand the situation any apply himself accordingly

moin khan is left also, i think he will be critical, i hope he plays excellent and shuts sohail up!

Now rain comes in to play ..... this probably means a longer break than first anticipated :D :D Fleming must be fuming ..... as the chance of a win are drifting minute by minute hopefully this day is washed out .....

What happened to Shoaib Malik?

How come no all-rounder on Pakistani side, Razzaq is more ODI type player, he is not effective in Test match. Batting looks really weak, I don't know why PCB is letting both Imran Farhat & Tufeeq play, I would have dropped Imran for the test and tried Tufeeq with Yasir Hammed in the first test, Youhanna and Inzi @ 3 & 4 and Asim kamal @5.
What happened to Shoaib Malik?

cmon man, Imran Farhat and Taufeeq Umar recent performance suggest that they should be the opening pair in test and yasir and farhat in one day, just because they didnt get a 100 run partnership or watever dont criticize the selection, selection for the tour was good and playing 11 is also good! I do admit that Razzaq is a 1 day player!

do you hear these biased ass hles, answering emails, question wa swho are top bowlers in the world currently they did not even mention shoaib. they mentioned shane warne who is not even playing at the moment. and replying to greatest all time they did not mention imran, waqar, or in my opinion the greatest Wasim, their guest did mention wasim i dont kno who he is though!

So ppl i'm going to bed ..... it's now 4:30 am and i'm too sleepy to wait for the play to resume

ah me!!!
i love rain…

Me Tooo

Umpires decided to end today's play due to rain and bad light. Fleming ka kya banay ga, kaliay. :D

Live scorecard

Pakistan were left in No Man’s Land when bad light and rain forced an early end on day three of their first Test match against New Zealand at Hamilton. They were still far enough away from the follow-on mark to get into trouble, but New Zealand may not have enough time to force victory.

The rain was never heavy but with the bad light, it was just enough to keep the players off the field. The ground lights at Westpac Park were on for most of the day.

The lack of play was frustrating for all concerned. Pakistan were still 137 runs from the safety of the follow-on with six wickets in hand, while New Zealand, who failed to put as much pressure as they would have wanted on the Pakistan batsmen, know that one more wicket would get them amongst a long Pakistan tail.

Pakistan scored 109 runs in the play available, never batting with the freedom the New Zealanders enjoyed, but with the number of loose balls bowled, their scoring rate was still respectable. New Zealand did pick up two wickets, Yousuf Youhana and Yasir Hameed.

Hameed demonstrated why he has had such a fine start to Test cricket. He came into the game with a Test average of 55.87 and enhanced that with his 80. It did seem that he was going to score his third Test century in only his sixth match. But, having looked unflustered, despite New Zealand employing plans aimed at containing him with a leg trap, early in the morning session, he somehow lost his momentum over the lunch break and was out soon after when a Daryl Tuffey slower ball trapped him leg before wicket.

In the morning session the New Zealanders looked to set a leg trap for Hameed and after one ball in which he almost succumbed to temptation, he took a piece of advice from Youhana and took a single. Then it was Youhana who got out, chasing a wider ball from Tuffey and offering a low chance which Lou Vincent accepted in the slips. Pakistan were 134 for 3 at that point.

Hameed’s steady approach was crucial because Inzamam was very tentative during the early stages of his innings. He batted as if he was expecting some of the demons in the pitch that he found when Pakistan were last in town in 2001. There were none and Inzamam was delighted to be offered some short-pitched balls which allowed him to get on his back foot and punch the ball through an arc from gully to extra cover.

When lunch was taken five minutes early, Pakistan were 205 for 3. Tuffey dismissed Hameed when the score was 209. After lunch, Fleming brought Scott Styris into the attack, and his controlled mediumpace deliveries tied the batsmen down more and allowed Fleming to apply pressure in a way that had not been possible during the morning session.

Daniel Vettori found spin from the wicket and had none for 29 from his 12 overs. Tuffey continued the growth in stature that he has enjoyed this summer and had 3 for 60 from 18 overs. Interestingly, after all the no-ball problems the Pakistanis suffered, and Mohammad Sami especially, the New Zealanders have been similarly afflicted with 12 bowled so far, including three by Vettori. Pakistan conceded 33 in their innings.

Play on the fourth day will start 45 minutes early in a bid to make up lost time, that is 10.15am local time.

Hameed played well for his 80…:k:

Hameed is the best thing to have resulted from the world cup failure. Yohanna was VERY disappointing. Personally I think he should loose a little bit of his 'flair' and bat a little more solidly.

Hopefully Pakistan will avoid the follow on. But if we're down to Razzaq already, then I really dont see that happening. Cant expect anything better than a draw from this one.

Where Pakistan went wrong

If we leave aside the obvious issue of ignoring a potentially explosive bowler like Abdur Rauf for a still very green Gul.

Pakistan made a mistake by picking Razzaq instead of Shoaib Malik. Razzaq's bowling of late has been less than inspirational, he bowls much like Shabbir and Gul with the difference being that he's not as good a bowler as those two.

I would have prefered Shoaib Malik because it would have brought some variety to the attack. Off-spin, Leg spin, Medium pace L&L and speed!!!

NZ seemed to struggle the most against kaneria, why wasnt farhat given a chance to to bowl a few overs? He couldn't have done any worse than razzaq or sami!!!
