Pakistan defeat world champion Argentina 3:2
The world champion took the lead after seven minutes when Leandro Tolini converted the rebound of a penalty corner. After the goal Argentina concentrated more on defending because Pakistan tried to put them early under pressure. By the time Pakistan gained a lot of opportunities but all of them failed. Argentina´s goalkeeper Federico Bermejillo saved not only the dangerous penalty corners, he also brought Pakistan into desperation with his skills. But 43 seconds before the half time whistle Pakistan equalized. Bermejillo left his goal to reach the ball near the circle line but it passed him and arrived at Abbas Haider who waited at the right post of an empty goal.
Both teams played even more concentrated in the second half, nobody wanted to make mistakes. Argentina had temporally more chances but they were not able to use them. In the middle of the second half both teams missed one player sent off with a yellow card. First Pakistan failed two penalty corners. Afterwards the world champion attacked again and won a penalty corner. Muhammad Irfan fouled the Argentinean flicker and the umpire decided to give a penalty stroke which was converted by Santiago Montelli.
Both played with passion which turned into indiscipline later. The Argentinean Sebastian Zocchi saw the red card and the World Champion had only ten players left on the pitch. Afterwards a slugfest was developed where Muhammad Irfan was able to equalize for Pakistan again. The equalizer let Pakistan play very confident. Their next penalty corner was converted by Muhammad Zubair who deflected the shot. Two minutes before the final whistle Pakistan´s goal scorer Abbas Haider was sent off with red as well.
Finally Pakistan saved very important three points supported by the majority of the crowd. Argentina needs to beat Egypt tomorrow to keep chances for the round of the best eight teams.
Pakistan v Argentina 3:2 (1:1)
0:1 Leandro TOLINI (PC), 1:1 Abbas HAIDER (FG), 1:2 Santiago MONTELLI (PS), 2:2 Muhammad IRFAN (FG), 3:2 Muhammad ZUBAIR (PC)

Re: Pakistan win its 3rd in JWC Hockey
Sadly Pakistan today lost to Belgium. But they were still lucky enough to go through the next round due to better goal averge over Belgium. Pakistan saw its first defeat in 4 matches. Belgium won 2-1.
Re: Pakistan win its 3rd in JWC Hockey
Very bad result for Pakistan today. Australia winning by 6-1!

Re: Pakistan win its 3rd in JWC Hockey
Hmm... are we through to the next round or not!
Re: Pakistan win its 3rd in JWC Hockey
They lost to the Kiwies as well by 4-2 and now out of the semi final run up. They can only for 5 number spot if they beat Korea today.
Re: Pakistan win its 3rd in JWC Hockey
Too late boys!!! Too late!!!
Pakistan defeat Korea 5:1 (3:0)
The clash of Asian teams in Johor Bahru today was an uneven match with the Greenshirts staking their claim early and never looking back, waltzing to an easy 5:1 win that takes Pakistan into the fifth place play-off in which they will face Argentina.
Abbas Haider got an early goal for the Pakistanis in the third minute, running through and netting before the Koreans had gotten their feet on the ground. Muhammad Zubair slapped on another ten minutes later, and Abdul Haseem Khan added a third to the tally still before the break.
Korea looked exhausted today, and could not muster enough resistance to keep the Greenshirts at bay, with Pakistan moving to a five goal lead in the second half as Muhammad Zubair and Abdul Haseem Khan each scored their second goals.
The Koreans booked a late goal to avoid the dreaded nil in the score with a Moon Kyu Kang penalty corner conversion after regulation time had ended that the Pakistanis made no effort to avoid but couldn't avoid the consummate defeat that pushes them into the match for 7th place against Spain.
It seems our junior hockey team is just as unpredictable. Did well to beat Argentina and Korea but got a real thrashing from Australia
And why are we losing against Belgium (of all nations) all the time?
