Its not an ODI that your best batsmen HAS to bat longer? Team management may have decided that Akmal does better in shepherding the tail and hence batted him at 6.
And if we are talking about established batsmen, then Asad did establish himself in the test team when Umar Akmal batted himself out of team due to stupid shot selection. It was not misbah's fault that Umar was clueless during those days.
I disagree with you on test vs odi too, your best batsman has to bat most overs, period. If your logic is true then tell me ponting was promoted from middle order to 3 in tests? Your best batsman should get the best chance to impose himself at other team and should have best support availble from other batsman, in this case Umar at 6 gets the support from Keeper and tail, in my proposed position at 4 he gets support of two batsman before batting with lower middle order, tell me which situation is better for team?
Also before he was dropped from test team in UAE, his last test inning was not quite a failure u honk he scored like 70+ runs, and playing him in UAE would have given him the opportunity to regain any lost touch by scoring at the flattest pitches in the world
