Pakistan batsmen cause havoc

A 15-ball 57 by Shahid Afridi propelled Pakistan to a mammoth 226 against Uganda in the first match of the Twenty20 Quadrangular held in Nairobi. Afridi added 82 runs off only 26 deliveries for the fourth wicket with Salman Butt, including a 34-run over bowled by Emmanuel Isaneez, while hitting seven sixes and three fours as Shoaib Malik’s decision to bat first paid dividends.

Although Pakistan lost Imran Nazir for a duck in the first over of the match, Butt and Kamran Akmal, promoted up the order, kept scoring at almost nine an over as the Ugandan bowlers were dispatched to all parts of the ground. Akmal’s dismissal after scoring 31 witnessed the international return of Younis Khan who had not featured in Pakistan colours since the World Cup.

Younis and Butt shared a 77-run third wicket partnership in seven overs as the six Ugandan bowlers used failed to keep the scoring rate down. Younis was finally dismissed after reaching his half century off only 25 balls with the help of four boundaries and three sixes. The arrival of Afridi, however, wreaked havoc as Pakistan top order got the perfect start to their warm-up campaign before the Twenty20 World Championship

Re: Pakistan Vs Uganda - T20 (Pakistan batsmen cause havoc)

I didnt even know Uganda had a cricket team but anyway chasing 226 to win Uganda is 37/4 after 9 overs which includes 4 over throws by Imran Nazir (The only Pakistani batsman to get out without disturbing the scorers) plus 5 wides. Takes those 9 runs out and Uganda would have been 28/4 in 9 overs. Yeah this little tournament was really a good warm up. Now we will be all ready when the real cup starts.

Re: Pakistan Vs Uganda - T20 (Pakistan batsmen cause havoc)

records set in this match by pakistan:

226 = highest total in a T20 international
afridi fastest 50 off just 13 balls
highest victory margin (by runs) = 148, pak vs uganda

this might be some sort of a record too....
iftikhar anjum, 3 overs, 2 maidens, 1 run, 1 wkt....

Re: Pakistan Vs Uganda - T20 (Pakistan batsmen cause havoc)

it is good to see that pak has given no respite to the new team.

:) :) :) :) ROFLMAO..........

Back in yesteryears---doing a stage show at Abu Dhabi my good friend the Emperor of Comedy--Omar Sharif's classical remarks, when that bloke--singing "HAWA HAWA..AIE HAWA..KHUSHBOO MEHKA DEY...." left the stage, were; "AIK TOW ISS SHAKHS KI HAWA SE MUHABBAT KA ANDAZA LAGAIEAY...KE HURR WAQT...HAWA HAWA..AIE HAWA...IDDHAR HAWA...UDDHAR HAWA...GAATA REHTA HAI....AUR PHIRR AISEE HAWA CHALEGI...KE YE SHAKHS BAGHEIRR PASSPORT KE 'UGANDA' MEIN PAYA JAIGA...!"

On a more serious note----UGANDA or MALI or BALI....ICC's plan to muster funds and become the richest corporate world....will see that countries like; Malaysia, Thailand, Iceland, SWITZERLAND and IRAN also make it through and be a part of the World Cup!!!!

Not surprised at Rao Iftikhar Anjum at all. He has a knack for bowling really tight spells. He's way underrated as a bowler.

*As per usual, armughal shows his cricketing brain in this thread. This was not a twenty20 international genius, it was an unofficial warmup.

I really hope Afridi produces this sort of dhamakay in the actual cup, but this was only Uganda we are talking about :( . Good to see Butt and Younis in the runs.*
