Pakistan VS Sri Lanka | 26th Feb

Re: Pakistan VS Sri Lanka | 26th Feb

^ It will be a tough match and lets hope we get a really hard fought match.

Re: Pakistan VS Sri Lanka | 26th Feb

^yup!!! I hope we fight till the last ball :k:

Re: Pakistan VS Sri Lanka | 26th Feb

Junaid for Wahab is not a bad choice but I w'd prefer Wahab because he is more experienced and can bat as well. Even on these batting-friendly tracks you can be restricted to a score of 200 +/- if you do not bat well. case in point: NZ and Bangla today

The presence of both Wahab and Umar Gul w'd help ensure the second powerplay is not completely wasted in the event of both Afridi and Umar Akmal falling before or soon after taking batting pp

Had it not been for Wahab and Zulqarnain, Pak w'd have lost the 4th ODI against SA during the recent series in UAE

Re: Pakistan VS Sri Lanka | 26th Feb

Lankans will chase down any total. I say we bat second if we win the toss.

Re: Pakistan VS Sri Lanka | 26th Feb

^ True, and for the first time this Pakistani team has more match winners with the bat than with the ball. Rehman, Hafeez and Razzaq aren't going to be running through any batting line up.

Re: Pakistan VS Sri Lanka | 26th Feb

Can't wait!! Both weekend games are going to be awesome. THE WORLD CUP IS HERE BOYS !!!!

Re: Pakistan VS Sri Lanka | 26th Feb

Strictly speaking that is not true. Batting is the key in ODIs. I believe any team can be put under pressure batting second (& esp. chasing under lights)** if you score 290+** ....and if you have a decent attack you should win 90% of the time

The Q is: Is our batting good enough to score that many runs first up? We will probably know the answer today

Ofcourse if you don't bat well & get bowled out for say 210-230, then you are really struggling & up against it. The only way you can win then is by bowling the other side out (cf. Bangla v Ireland). Hence you need wicket-taking bowlers

Equally, chasing anything over 250 under lights is not easy and SLA if they bat first will most likely score close to 300 runs. So Pakistan will have to bat really well today regardless of whether they bat first or second

Re: Pakistan VS Sri Lanka | 26th Feb

from cricinfo:

Welcome to what should be the first big game of the World Cup, and by big, I mean really big. South Africa against West Indies promised a lot, but didn't deliver at all, Australia against New Zealand didn't resemble a contest, England and Netherlands surprised us, but nothing better than two former champions clashing in what has built up into an under-stated rivalry.

Pakistan batting 1st :jhanda:

Waqar Younis has said that Muttiah Muralitharan is "not 28 anymore", and not that much of a threat. Here is what Murali has to say on air: "Well, I am definitely not 28 anymore, I am 38 now. But that does not mean I can't perform."

Re: Pakistan VS Sri Lanka | 26th Feb

Let see if the world cup begins..

It is said that the pitch is re-developed and with the few domestic matches, it seems like 225+ runs pitch, wonder how it goes with the side which have tendency to loose a match from winning point and other side with losing the big and high pressure matches without offering real fight
