Batting IS (and has always been) Pakistan's achilles heel. Unless Pakistan develops 5 solid batsmen no chance of winning 2015 World Cup either.
Batting is an absolute disgrace; Misbah did well with the bat but he should take some blame for the selection blunders (because I believe that the captain has a say in it)
How could he leave out players like:
Ahmed Shehzad
Umar Akmal (agreed he has an attitude problem but you do need good stroke makers like him and Ahmed Shehzad in your side)
Razzaq (was a must in Afridi's absence)
Hammad Azam and Haris Sohail (promising youngsters)
Garbage Imran Farhat, Past sell-by date Shoaib Malik (he only makes runs against India on sub-continental tracks) and Kamran Akmal should NEVER have been selected

I truly feel for Pakistan. It's hard for a team to win when there are 1 Billion+ people (or 20% of all humanity) praying for your defeat.
Seriously though, Pak's main problem is that their batters only use two gears - first gear OR fourth gear. All Pakistan needed, to chase down 230, was strike rotation for an extended period of time. Instead they simply closed shop until it was too late.
Contrary to what many people think, this is not a new problem with Pakistan batting . Even in the hay days of Pak cricket - many crucial matches were won by valiant rescue efforts by one or two individuals towards the end of innings (after tuk tuk batting for 30-35 overs OR *tuk tuk *in the middle overs after the initial powerplay burst). Pakistan successfully chasing down a decent target without any drama happens very rarely.

My 8 years old Daughter said “wieso sind die so schlecht beim Batting” which is german for “why are they so bad at Batting” and she understands very little of cricket …
… but when a Kid at this age sees there is something seriously wrong with the batting then why don’t the Selectors, the Coach and the Captain don’t get it by now
… i mean WTF are they waiting for … A RRR of under 5 on a Batting Track becomes a K2 Climb 
… to me it looks like they’ve inherited fear of failing while trying to get on top of bowlers on non sub-continental tracks and/or they simply lack the required technique

ab waqt aa gaya hai koi aur fav team tournament mein select kernay ka… ppl who know me by my country at my work place are literally laughing their A$$ off as why and why only pakistani batsmen have these issues… uuper kay paanch khilariyoun ko nikaal daen aur seriously bring in some old rugs or new strikers

So far teams with poor batting lineup have flopped. These pitches have nothing in it for the bowlers. Batsmen are playing poor shots to get out.
