Pakistan vs South Africa - Test Series

Shabbir Ahmed to Peterson, OUT: Gone! full toss, tries to play
another big shot not properly timed it and good catch taken by
Inzamam at widish mid on.

SA 366/8 lead by 295

South Africa declares, a lead of just over 300.

Pakistan have whole day tomorrow and some 10 overs today to make 302 runs to win. Inshallah, we'll win this test too.

We should play possitive cricket and go for the win. No need to play negative cricket and play for draw.

inshallah, Pak will win

Pakistan have chance to draw this test. That is if they don't lose wickets.

I think if they don't give away any wicket til the middle of the post lunch session then (some 45 odd overs remaining) after considering the asking rate they should go for victory

Stumps day 4 *Pakistan 348 & 8/0 (6.0 ov) *

inshallah!!!!!

Pak need 294 runs (94 overs) to win this test match.

^ Totally!

phew...a big sigh of relief...
the match is On... Pakistan should go and try winning..
they need a runrate of 3.1 I guess.. there will be 94 overs to be bowled tomorrow. they can try.... but again the middle orders needs to play its role.. waissay what SA's were thinkging didnt happened. and our Boys secured there wickets till the end of the day...
letss hope and pray, for a good day of cricket tomorrow..

if our openers dont give us a good platform, we will have a big BiG bIg problem....

Pakistan should be able to draw the match, Smith has made a very tricky declaration. He wanted to make sure that Pakistan must think target as achievable otherwise playing for draw is easier than playing for a win.

We all were puzzled why inzi did not take the new ball, well its a trade-off but he wanted to stop those quick runs that can be made by using new ball coz it travels much faster than the old one. It clearly had an effect late in the day when in post tea session SA couldnt score as freely as they wanted to.

Pakistan openers must survive the ooening session and lets say they make around 70 runs in that session for (God Forbid ) 1 wicket. THen they can judge the situation and send Razzaq in for some pinch hitting in middle session. Quite possible.

Go on, win the match and make us proud, pakistani team :jhanda:

** i think pakistan have been set a reachable target our batsmen are very attacking and they normally take the play to the oppostion, i don’t think we should lose this test match provided we can bat well and not give away easy wickets.

i personally don’t believe that the pakistani players given how they have been batting recently, have the kind of temperament required to go for a draw as they have a full day tomorrow, which i believe is 3 full sessions ( correct me if i’m wrong).

[li]1st session till lunch
[/li][li]2cond till tea
[/li][li]and 3rd till close of play
[/li][/list=1]

hopefully tuffs’ and faz’ can give us a another good opening partnership and then we just have to set our selves a target of runs for each session and if we can reach the target of runs for each session i don’t see why we should lose this test match we are very much init @ the mo’

come on pak :dhimpak: we can do it paki power zinda bad :jhanda:**

I would say that Pakistan should not even think about winning this unless we get a great start. Taufeeq and Inran played the opening overs perfectly and they should see off the new ball tomorrow then play according to the merits of the bowling.

The inability of our middle order to negotiate the 2nd new ball is what put us on the back foot in this match, otherwise we would be cruising to victory right now. For us a draw is as good as victory anyway, the pressure is on SA to force the win, we can dictate the game from here and play the game on our terms, defend as long as we like or attack if the bowling standard drops.

^^ Agreed.

Forget the negative-positive cricket stuff. There are trade-offs everywhere in every field. IF Pakistan can survive without major hiccups till lunch, SA will start to panic, Pakistan has nothing to lose so a draw would be enough. Pakistan once again depends heavily on openers to see out and give us another century opening stand (that would be a world record, insha'allah). After seeing out initial overs and behavior of wicket in the morning, pakistan should know how to proceed.

insahllah jeet hamari hi hogi :bhangra:

Yes saby, and SA have only looked dangerous with the new ball so if we can see off another 6-7 overs tomorrow morning which these lads are well-equipped to do so inshallah, I think we can cruise pretty easily after that.

The pressure will be all on SA to try and force a win while we can decide whether we will ease our way to a draw or go for the win if the going gets easy. Great position for us to be in :k:

The session upto lunch is going to be crucial. If we can survive that with only 1 or 2 wickets down (preferably none down), then we can look forward to either saving the match or even winning it.

The priority tomorrow must be to bat sensibly and not lose wicket as a draw gives us the series as well. That has to be the first aim and if we win this test than that will be the icing on the cake.
