Pakistan vs South Africa - Test Series

good.......

more injuries, more new players,, and the match will end soon s well..
then we can watch INDIA newZeland match,...
at least theya re playing well...

Rashid bhai, khuda ko maano yaar… hud hoti hay “re-thinking” ki bhee.

Pathan Bhai… it was stupid of Inzi to bash M Hafeez publicly… everyone uses someone as scape-goat, this time Inzi used Hafeez. Should we put WC loss blame all on Inzi? … NO, its fault of TEAM, not just one player. Very stupid of Inzimam.

I am sure Hafeez will make a comeback sooner or later, but to say that he won’t play for Pakistan again was the worst comment, shame on Inzi.

I think we should play Umer Gul as third fastie, replace Youhanna with Hasan Raza, Inzi with Misbah, while Kamran Akmal or other opener may replace Hafeez/Rashid Latif.

Inzamam to miss first Test](BBC SPORT | Cricket | Inzamam to miss first Test)

Pakistan will be weakened without their best batsman in the side
Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq is suffering from a hamstring injury and will miss the first Test against South Africa starting on Friday.
Yousuf Youhana has been named as captain in his place. Younis Khan and Abdul Razzaq have been dropped.

A squad of 16 includes just one uncapped player in Asim Kamal - a middle-order batsman.

“He is a promising young batsman with a lot of potential,” said chairman of selectors Aamir Sohail.

Moin Khan is back as wicket-keeper in his first Test since being sacked as captain in March 2001 and brings the experience of having played in 63 Tests.

Rashid Latif was not considered for selection after he requested that he wanted to be rested.

Also staging a comeback are openers Taufeeq Umer and Imran Farhat and middle-order batsman Misbah-ul-Haq.

Leg-spinner Mushtaq Ahmed’s inclusion is subject to him passing a fitness test, he will be replaced by paceman Umar Gul.

Mushtaq missed the last four one-day internationals against South Africa after pulling stomach muscle.

But there are no places in the squad for spinners Saqlain Mushtaq and Danish Kaneria.

“The team has been selected on the availability of players, current performance and form,” said Sohail.

"We understand that there are some injuries concerns and that did make our task difficult.

“However, the squad has been picked with the consent of the team management.”

Inzamam is expected to be fit for the second Test deom 24 October in Faisalabad.

Pakistan held a 2-0 lead in the one-day series before losing it 3-2 and South Africa are favourites for the Tests.

Shoaib Akhtar is named as vice-captain for the Tests but he could find himself in hot water.

He attended a fashion show in Islamabad the night before the final one-day game, which South Africa won by seven wickets.

Shoaib, Pakistan Cricket Board chief executive Ramiz Raja and Sohail must appear in front of a court for hurting religious sentiment.

All three attended the show, which was held on the Muslim holy night of Shab-e-Barat.

Squad: Taufiq Umar, Imran Farhat, Yasir Hameed, Yousuf Youhana (captain), Asim Kamal, Shoaib Malik, Moin Khan (wicket-keeper), Shoaib Akhtar (vice-captain), Mohammad Sami, Danish Kaneria, Shabbir Ahmad, Salman Butt, Faisal Iqbal, Mushtaq Ahmed, Kamran Akmal, Misbah-ul-Haq.

Moin back as wicketkeeper. :k:

Shoaib as vice captain.

Anyone knows anything about Asim Kamal?

Younis Khan, Razzaq, Hafeez, Umar Gul, and Saqlain dropped.

Great to see one of my all-time favourites back MOIN KHAN back in the team but we needed him for the WC and the selection committee at the time decided we could do without his fighting spirit and was rewarded with the limp showing that they deserved.

Taufeeq will be a welcome return but I still don't understand why Hassan Raza has been frozen out of the tests squads. Is he out of form in domestic cricket? That lad knows how to gratf an innings.

Does that mean shobby will lead the side once Yoyo is off the field during the test ??? OMG :frowning: :frowning: :smack: :smack: :smack:

That would be my starting 11 for the 1st Test

1.Taufeeq Umar
2. Imran Farhat
3. Yasir Hameed
4. Yousuf Youhana (capt)
5. Misbah-ul-Haq
6. Salman Butt
7. Moin Khan (wkt)
8. Shoaib Akhtar
9. Mohammad Sami
10. Mushtaq Ahmed/Danish kaneria
11. Shabbir Ahmad

Good to see Youhana passing the fitness test and Moin back in the squad because Kamran Akmal was not good enough to fill in Rashid's shoes. Hope moin makes a mark.

Asim Kamal is a very promising player, i have seen him play at a domestic one day match sometime ago. He just spanked the bowlers all around the park. Dont know his recent advances though.

Yep - High-five for the Warrior!

Maar gaye… :smack:

Asim Kamal is a left-batsman from Karachi. He has replaced Inzamam-ul-Haq in the first Test, holds avg. of 40.20 in first class and 36.82 in limited overs Cricket. He has also played for Pakistan ‘A’ side I guess {Not Sure About That}

Asim Kamal is 27, very late for newbie to make a debut in International Cricket.

Asim Kamal Profile

Well, I wouldn’t have dropped Umar Gul. If he couldn’t play well in ODIs series doesn’t mean he can’t do better in Test series. Any updates on Mushy’s health? Or is Daniesh Kaneria gonna replaced him?

Without Inzi, I think Pakistan’s batting wouldn’t be the same. Just a thought!

{Dance With Me} :dhimpak:

For what ???

No they are not. :nono:

Good to see Moin back, though he can never fill the shoes of Rashid Latif as a keeper but he is a much better batsman then Latif.
I think Asim Akmal is Kamran Akmal's twin brother, not sure though, but he can also be a wicket keeper.
I think he is a replacement for Younis Khan.
So Pakistan has Taufeeq and Imran Farhat opening, followed by Yasir Hameed, Youhana, Akmal, then Moin, Sami, Shoaib, Mushtaq.

I rather want another genuine fast bowler to be 4th bowler, since Shabbir is the only chance and it is likely that Pakistan won't play Kaneira and Mushy togeather, so Shabbir looks like the replacement.

So Pakistan is going in with 4 bowlers only, in scorching heat in Lahore, the last time we went in with 4 bowlers Both Gibbs and Smith scored 300 runs in their opening partnership.

OK, i’ll take him over Kamran for now but not over Rashid

Lo ker lo baat. When Rashid give interview to news papers he was trashed for being captain and breaking the discipline. When ANOTHER GUY whose discipline record is WORST than anyother Pakistani cricketer (even in as recent past as 2 days ago), he is named as vice captain. Then they say…

Not this but there was a guy in my class in school whose name was Asim Kamal. I wonder if he…

:nook: at all other than Hafeez and Younis

:hula:

ab is ki hi kasar reh gay thi :smack:

ramiz, u better change your company

Razzaq for sure we will miss!

To me, Moin Khan was a better choice as vice captain instead of Shoaib Akhtar.

Rest we will see on the 17th…

Umar Gul is not fully out as the Mushtaq has to go thru fitness test. I hope its not a repeat of what happened to us against Australia last year. Hopefully Shoaib, Sami will do it.

Youhanna was also unfit, right? Is he fully recovered or hopes to be recovered fully by the beginning of first test?

ehsan, Xtreme - When it comes to Waqar, both of you dont get tired of explaining how his bowling days are over and how Pakistan should be looking for the future and blah blah blah, but the moment moin khan, who happens to be your favorite, is selected (who is 33-34 now), you guys didn’t lose a second in approving his selection as soon as the news broke out as if he is the future of Pakistan cricket. However the fact is totally opposite - Moin has not played International Cricket for almost 2&1/2 years now and in domestic cricket he is more popular as Mr. Butter-fingers than the Moin Khan he used to be.

That moment your fav. was selected, all this talk of rebuilding and preparing a team for the future world cup etc took back seat ? Isn’t it double standards on your part ? Care to explain ?
