Out of the younger batch, the only batsmen who ahs the potential to make it big is Hasan Raza.
One wonders why he is kept out of our national team whereas contstant failures like Mohammad Hafeez are presisted with.
They are not calling it a crisis otherwise they may have to give Misbah, Saeed Bin Nazir or Hasan Raza chance to play 1st Test match in Lahore.
If Inzi & Yohanna are unavailable…

Its amazing how everybody wanted a piece of Elahi only 6 months back and now suddenly he is the most sought after man alive!! 
May be its coz of the performances put up by Hafeez, that have made Salim Elahi look like a true batting legend.
Front of Hafeez even Afridi looks like a class batsman.

How Rashid Latif is currently playing, I wouldn't seeing Moin making a comeback to the side, but certainly not as a captain. If YoYo and Inzamam are unable to play for the first test match, Im afraid we have already lost the 1st test match...:(

I think Pakistan needs 3 attacking fast bowlers and 1 spinner.
And possibly an allrounder, who is batting/bowler.

Hasan Raza was the only player apart from Taufeeq who stood up to the Aussies. His game is perfectly suited to test match cricket and he should be brought back.
I also think it would be a good call to make Shoaib captain. The responsibility would do him some good, not a bad idea at all.

yeah i thought that was a dumb statement too. Inzi's pathetic post-defeat interview after the last match was enough for me to decide he wasn't the man for the job. Younis Khan would be the man if his own batting wasn't so ordinairy.
Talking of dumb comments, I said at the time Miandad shouldn't worry about SA being 'chokers' while our own team is still not up to much. Aussies can afford to do that because they can back up the big talk.
Injury-hit Pakistan may need new captain
Pakistan may need a new captain for the test series against South Africa after Inzamam-ul-Haq was virtually ruled out of the first match with a hamstring injury.
“Inzamam is unlikely to be available for the first test, he has conveyed this to the team management,” Pakistan manager Haroon Rasheed told Reuters on Monday.
Pakistan vice captain Yousuf Youhana is also doubtful for the first test, which begins on Friday, and Rasheed said he would undergo an examination on Tuesday.
“Youhana also has a hamstring problem like Inzamam and he is feeling uncomfortable batting and fielding,” he said. “He will be examined by doctors, only then will we know if he can play in the first test. His chances at the moment are 50-50.”
Inzamam, a veteran of 88 tests and 298 one-day games, also missed two matches of the one-day series against South Africa with a strained hamstring, and was virtually a passenger on Sunday after straining the muscle again while batting.
In his absence Youhana led the side in the third and fourth games of the five-match series.
Former captain Rashid Latif is also not available after pulling out of the test series for personal reasons.
Wicketkeeper Latif stepped down as captain just before the series against South Africa after completing a five-match ban for taking a disputed catch during the third test against Bangladesh last month.
But Latif told Reuters that if there was a genuine captaincy crisis he would reconsider his decision not to play in the Tests.
“I have made my decision but if the circumstances dictate otherwise and if the board and selectors want me, I can rethink,” he said.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) media manager Samiul Hasan said that the squad for the first test would be announced on Tuesday.
Inzamam, Rashid and Youhana are the three most senior players in the team followed by Abdul Razzaq, Shoaib Akhtar and Younis Khan. PCB sources ruled out a recall for former captain Moin Khan :smack: (he was the best option currently), who was dropped after the 2001 New Zealand tour.
