Asim Kamal hit by Nel.
[thumb=D]a245.JPG[/thumb]
Shoaib Malik in full flow hitting a 4.
now we are playing fast.. :k:
275-4 90 odd overs
Still a good day for Pakistan despite the lower RR, but we managed to keep most wickets intact... :)
Well played Pakistan.
A lead of anything around 100 runs will give Pakistan a huge advatange with 3 quality spinners itching to rip apart SAfricans who must be pretty tired.
Good to see Pakistan playing some solid test cricket.
A reasonably good day. A very good opening partnership with Imran losing his wicket just before lunch. A good inings nonetheless by him. Taufeeq played superbly for his 111. But the highlight of the day has to be Asim Kamal, compact and unhurried batsmen still 49 not out and a good find. Overall the new guys have done us proud. If we can get a lead of 150 tommorrow we will be cruising.

I have to say that before this test started, i was expecting nothing solid from our team. However its always good to be proven wrong in such cases. Delightful performance really!

This has been the best display of test match batting I have seen from our team in years. That too without Yoyo performing or Inzimam. The reason? **We had two guys who went into this game determined to bat as long as possible **
Asim Kamal has shown outstanding temperament which is his most impressive quality for me. He is not going to give his wicket and that’s why we are 275-4. There’s still a long way to go as these are the last recgnised batsmen but Taufeeq and Asim can be very proud of themselves today. Imran Farhat did his job but he needs to learn from those two why in test cricket you don’t give your wicket and then make the bowlers pay later.
Great stuff :k:
Great performance by young players. Whats pleasing that it is accomplished without any meaningful contributions from Youhana, inzi and younis. Taufiq just stole the show today playing a matured innings.
Imran Farhat was very attractive while he was out there. Though he gave his wicket away in the end but atleast he laid the foundation for a big score. Hopefully Yasir and Imran can form an aggressive and reliable opening combo in ODIs...
I didnt see Asim kamal innings yet. will see that in highlights...
Wonderful batting by Taufeeq, Imran, Asim and Shoaib. I was expecting Yasir to stay on crease much longer and he disappointed, hopefully in next inning he will stay.
It was a delight to see 4 4s from Taufeeq in Nel’s over :k:
Before the match began, I wasn’t expecting 275 for 4, I was ready for 230-9 or so, but good God that I was wrong.
I hope our batsmen can stick around tomorrow for 100-200 innings lead.

Well lets hope there isnt a second pakistani inning ;)
what happens if the board appeals the ban ? is shoaib eligible 2 play, until a final decision on the ban has been made ??
Centurion Taufeeq inspired by former captain Anwar
LAHORE, Pakistan, Oct 18 , 2003 (Reuters)
Pakistan opener Taufeeq Umar, who hit a century against South Africa on Saturday, said he took his inspiration from former captain Saeed Anwar.
“Saeed has always been a big inspiration for me. I started my Pakistan career with him and he helped me a lot. I have modelled myself on him as he was one of the best opener’s produced by Pakistan,” Taufeeq said after his knock of 111 on the second day of the first test. Anwar announced his retirement from all cricket in August, disheartened at being ignored by Pakistan’s selectors after the World Cup earlier this year.
The veteran of 55 tests and 247 one-dayers still holds the record for the highest individual score in ODIs, 194 against India in 1997.
“When I started out for Pakistan two years back, Saeed encouraged me a lot telling me I had the ability to make this spot my own. I respect him a lot for that. He had no airs,” added Taufeeq.
The 22-year-old scored his fourth test hundred and second successive one against South Africa on Saturday to help Pakistan reach 275 for four in reply to the tourists’s first innings total of 320.
He has now scored 391 runs in five innings against South Africa at an average of 78.
“The pitch is good for batting and I didn’t face any problems throughout the day. I was disappointed to get out the way I did because I had willed myself to play out the day,” Taufeeq said.
The left-hander said he was confident of confirming a spot in the Pakistan team as opener. “I now have the confidence and have worked out my weak links to be able to stay around for long.”

Taufeeq should have been out,I still can’t believe how the bails didn’t fall after hitting the stumps so hard. ![]()
this is what we call Luck…
some time Umpire give harsh decision, that is luck as well,
but some time, balls hits the stumps pretty hard, and they dont fall…
Some years back a ball bowled at Pat Simcox passed through the wicket without dislodging the bails (in a game against AUS). Because the bails were not dislodged, he was given not out. Now THAT’s luck!
