Pakistan edge to victory despite Dippenaar hundred
the above statement is from cricinfo,
bharway kabhi pakistan ko credit nahi deygay

abey pkpride, sirf dekho to kaun likha hay. ek yindoo ney.
Well played by Pakistan. It was'nt broadcasted in North America and I was at school all day so I could'nt even follow the match at all. Reading this thread was the closest I can get to the action ( we cant even get a VHS tape) :(
But seems like we played awsome. Shoaib Malik, I think he will be a great player. I was really dissapointed we sat Umar Gul, he played so well against BD. He really should be recalled for the next match. Possibly the best overlooked thing outta this match was Yassir Hameed's batting. He has done the job against a quality team in an ODI, so this goes a way to prove the guy is legit. Hopefully he can give us another great batter. Sami also impressed with his composure in the last over, 4 runs is solid.
Areas of concern are Hafeez, Razzaq and Younis Khan. All three have really gotten worse in the last bit. Razzaq especially from like a year ago when he was touted as the next great all-rounder. We should think about taking out these 3 and trying Imran Farhat or Salman Butt, Azhar Mahmood and maybe Faisel Iqbal. Obiosuly Mushy should also sit, with the ovious replacement being Gul.
ehsan bhai!! sorry I missed your msg on MSN the other day!!! When I got back u were offline...
Congrats on the victory!!! Keep up the good work, the only reason why this thread got so many posts were because you were doing a good job keeping us informed!!!
For sure Inzi rock and at the end when Rashid was misfielding I kinda felt he was jealous of Inzi I am not sure but thats what I felt. But all credit to Inzi for the captaincy :k:.
But I must give FULL credit to Shoaib Malik and Shoaib Akhtar and than ofcourse Yasir Hameed and Sami.( ← cuz he really bowled well at the end specially the last over) :k:

PT bhai Khuda ka khauf karo. He has a 100% sucess rate as a captain. I think it is 7 matches, all won. What else do you want. Mushy came in as a specialist bowler so he was tying him out. At the moment Inzi rocks.
Aab Khuda kay liye do page lamba jawab na dena. :)

Whats new, Waqar, Moin, were both had winning starts to their captaincy and they both turned out to be flops, similiar with Rashid, we won first 5 matches when he captained and everyone praised him.
Pakistan's victory was from individual efforts from our players rather then captaincy.
But I have to say, Inzi's captaincy hasn't effected his individual performacne which is rare in world cricket these days.

This is what cricinfo says:
In hindsight, South Africa would consider that they let the game slip away in a little period of play at this juncture of the game. Neil McKenzie came out to join Dippenaar, and with the asking-rate climbing to well over six an over, Inzamam removed Shoaib from the attack and asked the batsmen to force the pace against the spin of Mushtaq and Malik. McKenzie was entirely clueless against the wiles of Mushtaq, and the two batsmen scratched around for several overs. As the overs slipped by, but no increase in the run-rate could be effected, both batsmen acquired an increasingly frantic air.
Twice McKenzie skied the ball into the offside in trying to hit down the ground, and both times he was dropped, first by Abdul Razzaq and then by Inzamam. Runs came in fits and starts, although South Africa would have begun to hope again when 16 came off the 43rd over of the innings, bowled by Mushtaq.

As I said Cricinfo got it wrong. Mushataq's first over went for 9 runs, the second for 4 and the third for 7 runs and he was taken off after conceeding 20 runs in 3 overs.

Pakistan's Shoaib Akhtar raises his arms in jubilation after Pakistan completed an exciting eight run win over South Africa in the first One-day International in Lahore. REUTERS
Yesterday Shoib Malik reiminded me of:
*4th October 1996
The fastest hundred in one-day history. Promoted to pinch-hit at No. 3 in his first ODI innings, Shahid Afridi savaged Sri Lanka in the KCA Centenary Tournament match in Nairobi. He took only 37 balls to reach three figures, comfortably beating Sanath Jayasuriya's existing record of 48. And that wasn't the only record to go: Afridi hit 11 sixes (equalling Jayasuriya's ODI record); the 28 runs he took off one over from Jayasuriya is a record for batsmen not called Jayasuriya; Pakistan's 371 for 9 is their highest ODI score; and Jayasuriya's figures of 3 for 94 were the third-most expensive in ODI history. And all this when - officially at least - Afridi was only 16 years old; unsurprisingly, he is the youngest person to score an ODI hundred. *
a match winning performance from shoaib & shoaib.... dissapointed in hafeez (no surprise) and more importantly the younis khan and to a lesser exten abdul razzaq.... im concerned about our opener... it looks like we still dont know who is going to be our permament opener for the years to come... imran nazir seems to be out of favour with the selectors.... but oh well,, a great win indeed... pakistan back on track now...
hayn???
what an intelligent comment teaser bhai ![]()
infact Rashid was the one who constantly talked to mushy and Shoaib and Razzaq when Saffies were on top. Jealous thing?? well its not club cricket ![]()

but his next 6 overs were excellent, he went for some 27 runs in next 6 in middle of the innings when MAckenzie and Boeta were trying to hit out. and that was an important phase.
Maybe not jealousy but his keeping was below par yesterday. Maybe he was not fully match fit after a long layoff.

His ten overs cost 65 runs and no wicket. First three cost 20 next 6 cost 27, i.e 9 overs 47 runs, that means his last over cost 18 runs. That undid the good work of the previous 6 overs. Look at it another way his first 3 cost 20 runs, his last 7 cost 45 runs. Pretty poor overall for a main strike bowler.
??? dont tell me they were showing it?!

yes, with that i agree. He missed some skidders yesterday, something to do with the dew around, affects the buonce but he is experienced enough to judge that.
