The need for a Shoaib Akhtar in the bowling line up is glaringly obvious. Whether you can swallow this or not, pie throwers like Najaf Shah, Sami, Shahid Nazir, etc. can't cut it against the best in the world. Sohail Tanveer's awkward action will be found out sooner rather than later (4 overs in tullay baaz 20/20 vs long spells in test cricket). We are lacking a third seamer quite obviously.
I think Shoaib will be great for the squad, he has done no favors by attacking his own team mate. Don't see PCB for resolving the issue any time soon. I guess they have found the reason to keep him away for a long time.
Shoaib is due for a disciplinary inquiry next week, lets see how PCB handles the situation. Shoaib is their employee, if he is trouble, cut him and get it over with. Don't extend the situation. Keeping him grounded serves no purpose. We lost the tour against South Africa because of PCB. When Shoaib was fit, they did not bother to send him. He could have made the difference in first test match.
next week? thats good then…don’t know why he wasn’t included in SA tour…wasn’t he kicked out bcoz of doping or something like that? don’t know much bcoz i didn’t follow that series…anyways yeah its of no use to keep him if they are not going to play him…better to let him go to have a chance in bollywood…i’m sure his watta bowling style will be much appreciated there in the movies…:k:…

The answer is obvious. A third seamer is not needed. Play a second spinner instead and make wickets for spin. South Africa does not have any decent spin bowler. Take advantage of that.

We haven't seen spinning wickets in Pakistan for a while now. Even if wickets turn, the spin comes off the surface so slowly that batsmen can take their sweet time and deal with it. We can completely blow away the South African batting line up with an attack of Akhtar, Asif, Gul and Kaneria on even a decent batting track.
What happened to Shabbir Ahmad? I haven't heard anything about him in a while. Screw Shoaib Actor, bring Shabbir in.
As I said, trundlers like Shabbir can't cut it when it comes to competing against top test sides like South Africa and Australia. I would rather play Tanveer than Shabbir against them (purely due to the novelty factor).

So Shoaib Akhtar should be given free reign despite his unpatriotic behavior? Oh I forgot... he doesn't have a beard so he's forgiven.
Lets's see if he can beat up farangi Lawson, and desi Malik, Misbah, Yousif and Younis before the first test. And even assault a PCB official while at it.
Locker room cancers like Shoaib Akhtar should have been kicked out of the squad long time ago. I don't care if Pakistan loses every test match in Akhtar's absence. He is not greater than the team and he will never understand that.
mashallah se we have the honor of having that great test fast bowler Rao, instead of blooding a new talent like Tanveer in test matches at home
sallu has said that tanveer still has a lot to learn in the longer form of the game, lets just hope that Rao manages to take some time out and pass on some tips from his lengendary knowledge which he has accumulated during his long and illustrious test career
Sallu is right, Tanveer has some time to go before he's ready to play a test match. He should first be introduced in ODI's. He should work on learning how to move the ball in to the right handers with the likes of Wasim or Aaqib.
On the other hand, Rao isnt a great choice...but to be honest, Im tired of seeing Sami given so many chances, so I'd rather pick Rao.
Nice move. Enjoy the trundler Rao in the first test (You guys all hoped for Shoaib's absence, your wish was granted). I'll go cry in a corner about our dying breed of genuinely fast, test match wicket-taking bowlers.

Just wanted to know if Rao has performed badly whenever he is been given chance?
And being express speed is the only criteria to be a good test bowler?
And I wonder what we would be saying if Rao picks up wickets and we win the test match?

The game is right. Have a look at Rao's test statistics to get your answer. Rao can perform decently in ODI's but in test matches, he just doesn't have enough venom. Obviously a bowler like Akhtar would be an asset to any team, unfortunetly he's brought the trouble on himself.
